HBO greenlights A Game of Thrones pilot! (spoilers)
EDIT: Changed the original header to mark this as the thread where spoilers are allowed (but not necessarily recommended...). Created a new, spoiler-free thread for Ice and Fire virgins...
This is awesome... Huge, Huge News Nov. 11th, 2008 at 10:29 PM HBO has given the production order. They will be filming the pilot episode of A GAME OF THRONES. It's just the pilot so far. They'll need to see that before they decide whether to proceed with a full season's episodes. So let's all hope the pilot will kick serious ass. It should. David Benioff and Dan Weiss did a terrific job with the script. And yes, all of you can relax, it's very faithful. Dan and David will be the executive producers for the pilot and (we hope) the eventual series. More details when I have 'em. The news is very fresh. HBO just issued their own press release, which should be up on their website soon, if it's not there already. Winter is coming to HBO. Hot damn. Last edited by keg in kc; 04-25-2011 at 03:58 PM.. |

I have to say, the acting in this series has been outstanding. The list of actors that aren't amazing is shorter than those who are.
I'm getting the feeling we'll see a lot of awards from this show.

Oh, I've been meaning to say Charles Dance was amazing as the elder Lannister in this episode. Very cool scene.
I had to look him up, only things I've seen him in were Last Action Hero and Alien 3.

Man. I knew it was coming, and it was still painful as hell to watch.
Tywin Lannister's scene was freaking nails. Such a good episode.

I'm starting to come around and think he might make a decent Conan.

Also: they just keep at it with the symbolism in this show. Having Tywin butchering a stag in that scene was a nice touch.

i did the same thing after 2 episodes. I am a slow reader my first novel since 1995, so yeah, this is a huge task, i am like 3/4's done with the first book though.

Man I'm sort of happy Robert is gone, I didn't really like him that much.
This episode was crazy. Khal Drogo might as well be called Winter because he is coming. Littlefinger proved himself to be a heel, which is cool. Only 3 eps left, good shit! |

I grew up a Stephen King fan. A thousand pages isn't a daunting task if you're into the story. As long as you're entertained every time you pick the book up, and left wanting to know what happens next... it's a huge success. |

I haven't really watched the series but only because I am so very much into the books atm. I'm in the middle of the 3rd book. Had a serious "holy shit" moment.
The series are freaking epic. They are a *MUST* read. |
