Trent Green was 30 (31 for his first season) when the Chiefs traded for him with the #12 overall pick. Alex Smith was a better QB on paper at the time.
The Chiefs will get a 2nd for him and likely a conditional pick in the 2019 draft. I think it was tim grunhard on the radio the other day saying that one reason they will have to trade him is there was likely a rift already starting in the lockerroom with the Alex Smith guys and the Mahomes guys and it's cancerous. It would get worse if they didn't trade him. Last edited by jaa1025; 01-25-2018 at 04:58 PM.. |

Actually, he was 29 at the time the Chiefs traded the #12 overall pick for Green, which is still one of the dumbest ****ing moves, ever, considering they passed on Drew Brees.

Alex will be 33 when the Chiefs trade him. 34 when next season rolls around. |

Oakland traded a 1st and 2nd rounder for a 32 yo Carson Palmer.
Buffalo traded a 1st round pick for 30 yo Drew Bledsoe. KC Traded 1st round pick for 31 yo Trent Green. Washington Traded 11th overall pick for 31 yo Brad Johnson. KC Traded 1st round pick for 37 yo Joe Montana. There are a lot more examples of 2nd round picks for QBs way worse or unknown for QB's. McNabb was Alex Smith's age and in decline big time physically and they still got a 2nd round pick. |

I still think they squeak out an early 2nd at worst. Too valuable to too many franchises right now.

The thing Dominik is overlooking in his assessment is that the Garoppolo trade was a gift. Belichick could have gotten way more than that, but we all already know that he gave him away after his frustrations with Kraft. He also wanted to help Shanahan out it sounds like. I don't even think he made Jimmy G available to other teams, or they would have offered much more.
It doesn't matter what he should or shouldn't be worth on paper when you've got potential for a bidding war. |

OMG. I'm actually not sure if we are interested in him or not. Which scares the crap out of me. So I'm in full on deny, deny, deny until the decision is made.

It'll be interesting to see what BB does in the draft this year and if he takes a QB in the first couple of rounds. |

Belichick could have gotten 1.1 from Cleveland if he offered I would guess. They almost gave up a 2 and a 3 for McCarron, so that has to say something about the QB trade market in itself. |

Belichick retires after the Super Bowl. Tom Brady doesn’t win next year, Billy can claim it was all him.
