The Official "Lost" the series discussion

I figured I would start a thread for this and see what happens....there seemed to be quite a few viewers on the board for this show the past few weeks.....I like the direction the show is taking so far......episode 3 tonight at 7 central on ABC....

Here's an angle that I just recently thought of.

Desmond meets (intentionally? probably) Jack just after he operates on a woman who's back has been broken in a car accident. He reveals to Jack that he once thought to become a doctor, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't practice medicine. Jack bemoans that he couldn't fix the woman he made a promise too and Desomond said that he should believe in miracles.

Later that day, Jack finds out that the woman miraculously recovers from her spinal injury and, of course, eventually walks again.

Fast forward.

Locke crash lands on a island and after being bound to a wheel chair for a significant period of time, suddenly can walk again. Desmond is on the island. What is the link. Or is there one?

Yes, I believe there is a link. Desmond made that miracle happen for Sara, recruited Jack and Locke(I hadn't made this connection by the way), perhaps this is his lab, and he needed new subjects?

Did anyone NOT know that the guy running in the stadium was the guy in the hatch? I was pretty proud that I figured it out when they were in the stadium, until I found out that my wife knew it as well.

Ok a little help here. I watched the two episodes last night. I've heard so much about this show that I was curious. It was interesting but felt like I'd come into the middle of a movie which in effect I have.

Can someone give me a synopsis to help me catch up?

I was thinking the dude in the bunker would be Danielle's son that the "others" took from her 16 years ago. I thought this when they wouldn't show his face early on, but there's no way that dude is younger than 30.

I picked up the DVD over the weekend. Tried to watch the first episode with the wife (she never watched any of them last year) only to learn that the first disc is defective. I have to return it and I already threw out the damn receipt. Hope Costco takes it back.
