It also cracks me up that if Joeckel isn't Joe Thomas his first year, then he will be destroyed.
I'm sure the same people will hold the same standards to other prospects (ahem Geno).

I'll settle for Joeckel being as good as Albert was in 2008.

Joe Thomas in year 1? No probably not. As good as Jake Long was right out the gate? Yeah, he should be that. Don't start with the excuses already. |

It also showed him protecting the inside too, against Mingo of all players. I think they want Joeckel because he is flat out the best player and the most NFL ready prospect, which they want because they are in "win now" mode. Either way, you can't ignore what Joeckel has done. He's flat out owned the best DL/pass rushers in this draft. He shut down a lot of high profile guys. Sure he struggled a few times, for example against Alabama, but most of the time they didn't get any pressure from the left side. The pocket was clean. Hell one of the pressures given up by Joeckel that game was from a last minute blitz from the Safety (Robert Lester) off the edge. Not sure how much blame lies in Joeckel for blocking a Safety that runs a 4.5 when the HB just let the guy by. I'll have to have Sorter check that one out.

I want above average production from him in the fall. Jake Long is a good player to use as an example.

I don't think he has the mean streak. At all. You seem to base alot of things on what you WANT to happen and say you think it will happen, when there really isn't much to base it on. It's fine to be positive, but damn. And you can say what you want, but the fact he's from a spread offense, with the most dynamic QB in college football isn't helping. Nor is the fact that some people seem to think he wasn't even the best LT on his own team and that Matthews is better. I think he's a good prospect, but he's not a dominant physical specimen so I'm not sure his ceiling is that high. |

He plays a position that doesn't normally take alot of progressing from college to the NFL. He needs to be great from day 1. |

He can be no worse than Albert was his rookie year.
