I haven't read through this whole thread, but if it already hasn't been mentioned, there's a face soap made by "University Medical" or something like that. If you are prone to getting acne every once in a while, it's been pretty good for me. It isn't very harsh at all and a big bottle is like 5 bucks. They also sell it as part of a package, similar to Proactiv, with the lotion and liquid crap. But you can buy the cleanser by itself. Whenever I don't have it, I usually just use basic soap or shampoo.

I use Purpose bar soap in the shower. It's what my wife's dermatologist suggested for me.


Oh and make sure to wash your face AFTER you shampoo.

On a serious note, I had acne problems in high school. Nothing that required a dermatologist, but enough that I fooled around with over the counter garbage like Stridex pads. It never really worked.

At some point (high school or college - I don't remember specifically when) I said **** it and stopped. No Stridex, no soap, no nothing but rinsing my face off with water. And my acne went away for good. I haven't washed my face with anything ever since. I'll sometimes rinse my face off after I wash my hands, if it feels dirty or greasy, but basically rinsing it off in the shower is all I do.
