That 2003 defense was light years ahead of this collection of dried up shit stains. They forced turnovers at the very least. The only thing anyone remembers is that playoff game with no punts. And that was an on-field abortion, but over the course of the season they weren't nearly as bad as this year's defense will prove to be.

It's terrifying to think that with a 35-10 lead you're still a little concerned.

Nope, it's not a harsh assessment. This defense is the NFL equivalent of what Mahomes had at Texas Tech. 3rd and 20 and you can't get a stop? It's the NFL, not high school. Pathetic. Then with 35 seconds left in the half, they give up a nice easy drive for a field goal. That game should have been 35-0 at halftime.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

LOL they got bailed out on the TD pass by a questionable call. Thank you refs. But how ridiculous is it that the Niners backup QB comes in and has an easy TD pass like that? Veach needs to do something drastic about the defense...soon.

Meh, they're not good but jury's still out on just how bad they actually are. Situation today was much the same as it's been all season. We jumped out to a huge lead- thanks in large part to the defense playing very well.

At any rate, they are absolutely bad at tackling and there are far too many communication breakdowns in the secondary. Pitt and SF's no-name TEs just gashed us like crazy two weeks in a row. Who cares if we contain Antonio Brown or Goodwin or whoever if we allow some other douche to have a career game?

Tighten up.. and start working in some of the younger guys in the secondary and at DE/OLB.

Our defense is our opponent's best offensive weapon.

Our secondary is the weak spot. Even more so with Berry and Sorensen out. Our front seven is the strength. When you get out to such big leads, the other team is going to pass. Thus taking out our strength on defense, which is our front 7. 5 wide sets forces you to go to a 3 man rush. Blitzing becomes harder. Essentially to get constant pressure you need a HOF type rusher in that set. There is a reason why all 32 teams give up so many yards when it comes down to the 2 minute drill in this set.

We haven't trailed all year. Pittsburgh tied us. The leads have never been in true danger. This isn't a 2003 situation.

I’m for firing Sutton and promoting a interim coach to finish this year. Really can’t go anywhere but up from 32nd.

Indeed. Why the hell not. Sutton proves week after week that he isn't going to change up the Defense. It's time to send him packing and trying someone else. If not now, DEFINITELY at the end of the season.

Sutton needs to go.
