I disagree. I think SF had a bad run defense due to horrible defensive line play and poor coaching. Place him in KC, and you have an experienced linebacker playing behind a healthy, strong defensive front

Healthy defensive front? Two members of the DL coming off the IR...We hope they're healthy.

PFF had something nice to say about him

8. Gerald Hodges, LB
Players with a very small sample size of play are some of the riskiest free agents around, but they can also provide major upgrades for minor investments if the sample size is small enough to keep them under the radar of most teams. Gerald Hodges played 584 snaps for the 49ers this past season. It was actually his third straight season with between 500 and 600 snaps, but was the first in which he put it all together instead of just flashing one facet of his game. Hodges became a major factor in the run game for the 49ers, notched three sacks and nine total pressures on the blitz, and improved his play in coverage – dropping his passer rating allowed by more than 25 points over his previous career high. Hodges only really has one season of quality play to his name, but that season points to significant upside if a team can replicate that form.

Latest from Terez

The interest between the #Chiefs and ILB Gerald Hodges remains mutual, a source tells me. Will be interesting to see if anything comes of it

I think we're signing him

Yeah, I would be surprised if they don't really. Terez is typically nails with his reports.

Hodges steps in as a our Mike linebacker day one. Sign him up Dorse.

I guess that gives us Hodges/Wilson/March/Alexander until DJ comes back. I guess they really have let Mauga walk.

I wonder what's up with this guy? It's been 4 days since this was reported and he's probably left town by now, but I don't see any reports about him going to visit somewhere else.

Hope we sign this dude bc him and Logan would be really nice pieces to add to the front 7.

Yeah, kinda my guess.

Chiefs were hoping to get him cheap, he's not ready to sign for cheap yet so he's going to take other visits and/or wait until the market thins out and teams circle back.

Seems more likely than not that he goes elsewhere at this point. Would've been a nice piece but sometimes you just can't come together.

The upshot is that he hasn't signed anywhere yet. I don't know who else he's visited but obviously he feels his price point is different than some teams see it. The Eagles are supposed to still be shopping Kendricks too, so we have options.
