Another reason to draft Geno. We'll find out in 1 year if Alex Smith is the QB that can run Reid's offense.

One could say that about any QB who comes to a new team. And what is considered winning now? 7-8 or more wins? I don't like Alex Smith and think he needs to play like a borderline top 10 QB to be ''good enough''.

Winning with Alex Smith? We should at least be a 9-10 win team next year. Anything less than that is failure.

It's tough to gauge the confidence level. It was clear the team gave up on a hopeless situation. I don't expect to go anywhere great with Alex, but I wouldn't be floored if we won 9 games. I wouldn't be shocked if we won 6 though either.

If Alex succeeds in our offense? Anywhere between 8-10 wins.
If he flounders? 5-7 wins and we're looking for a QB yet again. |

Todd Mcshay says the 4 players he thinks are Joeckel, Fisher, Ansah, and Loutelili.

I would be pretty surprised if Alex Smith threw for 4000 yards. I would also be somewhat surprised if he had over 20 TD. I would be disappointed by 61% completions. That's not good. Not awful, but not good either. I expect at least 14 INT, working on the assumption that they don't leash him from the start.
It's hard to judge by raw stats, and as others have pointed out wins and losses are what really matter, but looking from the vacuum that I find myself in right now I think I'd be disappointed by that kind of production for the price we paid, knowing the kind of system Reid prefers to run. |

It's all fine and dandy if you're the Colts and you fall ass over tea kettle into your solution. It's another situation if you're the Chiefs, who have a tendency to never be in a position to draft a QB when they really need one. If Alex Smith is his meh self from the 49ers, we might win 8 games. Guess how many top QBs in next year's class will be gone by the time we pick? Probably all of them. We're in a position to draft a QB NOW. One year from now he'll be arguably better and more NFL ready than anything we could find in the draft next year. It was sickening how this franchise got caught off guard the way they did when they moved on from Trent Green. Alex Smith failing to meet the high expectations being placed on him by this organization is pretty much the exact same situation as moving on from a veteran. A replacement is needed, one that is a significant improvement. |

Eveyone is praising Geno Smiths work ethic.
Apparently they gave all the qbs in this draft a playbook of a 100 pages full of NFL plays. Only him learned it all. He went to a Q&A session with all the qbs. Only he brought a notebook in there and he asked all the questions. The other qbs hardly asked any. This makes me like Geno even more.. Last edited by penbrook; 04-02-2013 at 03:06 PM.. |
