I think it has to do with the new constraints of the CBA, where less practices, limited pad practices, etc, etc takes into consideration. Rule changes also affects the quality/flow of the game, especially reviewing every got damn touchdowns.

Doesn't help the fact that Thursday night football games hurts, as well as traveling over-seas to London can be argued as well.

There's a lot of other things that could probably be mentioned.
