Something to be said about Nagy's confidence with installing this offense. Can't wait to see this offense go full speed. |

And the passing plays we run this year. Are we using play action much? It seems like a perfect fit to compliment what we can put in the backfield. Last edited by Coogs; 08-07-2016 at 12:02 PM.. |

It takes an extra roster spot, but I'd consider keeping davis to return kicks.

Grab > squeeze > twist away from the defender so he can't knock ball away guys like Fitzgerald etc do it all the time ... so guys are so good at it that they can catch the ball with one hand and still keep it away from a defender. I like Conley but we need him to improve for THIS year.

Knile Davis might make the team as a kick returner because Hill isn't going to do it. He's too valuable an offensive weapon.

This Conley conversation is dumb it's like expecting NBA players to shoot 100% from the free throw line. He's not guarded, he needs to make those shots.

Will teams be content with the opponent starting on the 25 or will the rule influence coaches to ask their kickers to hit within the 5? |

Well Aaron Murray seems destined to be part of the first wave of cuts.

Smith has missed at least a half dozen long TDs with over-throws since he's been here. If they start to connect on those...Smith will get his first 4000 season. |

This defense has some speed. I just hope the secondary holds up. Peters needs to have an even better year than last...and that doesn't necessarily mean INT as many passes [ though it would be nice ]. Dude needs to stick on his WR like glue, and he's going to be going up against the league's best this year. Julio Jones, Keenan Allen is coming back and has bee a thorn in the Chiefs side when healthy. DeAndre Hopkins and Antonio Bryant are 2 of the top WR's in the AFC, and then Demaryius Thomas and Amari Cooper. Denver has QB issues and am going to assume they'll be running the ball a lot this year.
Point being, those are brutal matchups for even as someone as talented as Peters. But that's why you play the game, if you wanna be great, you have to perform well against other great players. He's a competitive dude and I'm sure he's circled a few of those games on his schedule. The hype and opportunity will be there, can he take advantage of the situation and set himself up to get paid a lot of money in a couple years? We'll see. Hopefully his coverage skills get a little better and continues to improve and steps up to the challenge. I'm thinking ultimately he will, but it may not be pretty right out of the gate. Personally I think Gaines is going to be picked on all year, or that is until he gets hurt. Chiefs are lacking a solid #2 CB, but have chose to apply their resources ($) elsewhere. LB depth has me intrigued. Anything to keep Zombo on the sidelines, should be that group's motto for this season. A lot depends on (when) Houston comes back, if at all. Dorsey seems to think he will, but this is ultimately going to be the key to this defense (and Poe) for the next 6 years, and I'd rather have him be 150% healthy before he gets back onto the field. We'll see. Ultimately it's up to how he feels and what the doctors think, both in which are out of Dorsey's control. He can say whatever he wants to, maybe in efforts to sell more tickets he's claiming Houston will be back, injecting us fans with serious hopes for making a Lombardi run, but we're going to see. It's important that Dee Ford makes massive strides this year...If Houston is gonna be shelved for a while he has to have a breakout year. He has the natural talent to do that, but he's very 1-dimensional and his technique was poor and played himself out of many plays last season. He showed flashes, practically won us the Buffalo game. Speaking of that I'm glad we're not playing Buffalo this year....god **** that team. They're not very good but they're scrappy and play tough defense...always seems to be a close game w/ them, at least recently. I think we've played them for 6 seasons straight. That has to be a NFL record for consecutive match ups between non division winning, non divisional opponents. Indy and NE probably have a string of a decade's worth of consecutive match ups between the 2 teams, but they've both been good for a long time while the other teams in their divisions have been shitty. Houston, Hali, Ford, Nicolas, Johnson, March, Mauga, Alexander provide some great depth at the LB position, much needed depth this franchise hasn't seen in a LOOOONG time. Lots of close-in sideline to sideline speed in this dept. I'm very intrigued by this group this year. Hopefully Houston comes back sooner rather than later, him being healthy puts this core into great status. They could really be able to do some things this yr. LB and RB depth are going to pay huge dividends this year IMO. But if Houston is out, Ford really needs to step it up. Really big shoes to fill, but he's going to have to do it. I'm still very skeptical about our WR's though. Still really pisses me off we didn't draft Tyler Lockett. Dude would have been money in this system. I'm hoping Conley can step it up to at least be reliable in some aspect. Tyreek Hill hopefully can tear it up RAC because just like DAT and DMC, these smaller guys go down when there's a strong wind. But if he can get into open territory forget it..he's gone.

I can't link it, but Reid had some high praise for QB Murray in the "Look for QB Nick Foles to get snaps in Chiefs preseason opener" article up in the tweets section.
