-- My car's timing chain snapped two weeks ago

The Audi's timing chain went about two weeks ago - Oddly it happened after the dealer had it (the next morning from getting it back, actually) - It really doesn't matter - you have no legs vs. a dealer and besides they'd have to dissect the engine to access that area. So in this case I actually do think it was just a mere coincidence.

Anyhow; ?? I'm wondering if anyone has recovered a vehicle from this timing chain issue ?? - again it's an 06 Audi A4 3.2

I bought a really fast vehicle & all - but black'ey can't be buried yet.

anyone else gone through this? I forget the details regarding the engine's structural assembly. There are two types - one where you're basically in a repairable situation or two - you're ****ed.

Help

Please....

Had a teacher back in junior high that had a TR7, always thought they were sweet looking cars.
But they’re British and I’ve learned my lesson.

Back in 1980, my dad bought my mom an MG Midget in that color. She drove it once and made my dad sell it (too scary). The people that bought it still own it and drove it many years with no problems. Still pisses me off that I never got to drive it (I had just gotten my license).

Ha ha.

Little Billy and his Dad were down at the autocross watching the Spitfires zipping through the cones.
Little Billy looks up to his Dad and says, "Dad, when I grow up, I want to be a Spitfire driver."
His Dad looks down at him and says, "You can't do both, son."

For those of you who have never had the pleasure of owning a British car, but want to know what it's like: Next big rainstorm, wait till dark, roll down all windows, leave off lights & heater & wipers and go for a drive. Stop at every intersection and throw out a twenty dollar bill. It's not exactly the same, but it's real close.

Yeah, I can imagine. I drove my Spit from 15 to 20.

That color is British Racing Green (in case you didn't know).

Scary? Surely she didn’t think it was over powered.

I like that mustang Floppy - really I do. I'm not huge into Domestic cars, and I know that's terrible and I'll probably rest in a bathtub of acid in hell, for it. But that black one sure is pretty.

I hadn't planned on posting a photo of my replacement car - believe me I'm not bragging, it has 80k miles on it - I put 8k down toward it - my payments are cake and I'm only paying on it for 36mos. However is really is super fast. But i'm still an Audi guy through and though.

The dealer DID warn me about the timing chain maintenance, however I was warned while going through my divorce - so I think I just put my hand in the air and made the 'pfft' noise and motioned the 'get outta here' waive off, at that time.

What a huge life lesson though. The Audi did have nicer interior.

I'll need to do some updates to the Navi and electronics. My buddy has owned six BMW's prior to his interests in Mercedes V12's - he has two tracked Supra's that both have almost 900 hp - no joking.

Anyhow - Clark says w/ one simple ECU tune - I'll achieve 400hp - i'm not sure if i'll do it yet, or not - it's really fast untouched. Don't let the 300hp fool you on these 335i's - the twin turbo is how you get your boost and it won't really meter out or truly represent itself on an HP measurement.

I never got the chance to learn my lesson but I know they had their issues.

I was really intrigued by the TR8 - a TR7 with a Buick 215 V8.

Too low. She felt like she was going to get run over. Not very logical but it is my mom were are talking about here.

Once last British car I had the hots for in high school: the bug-eyed Sprite

There were a surprising number of them around the Salem area when I was growing up.

Sorry to hear about your broken timing chain SR. It never, ever used to happen, now it is not all that uncommon.
The 2009/10 5.7 Hemi MDS motors, as well as some of the GMs are experiencing it, from the issues caused by going down to 4 cylinders on a v8.

It usually results in bent valves, eyebrowed pistons etc.

Oh, and overhead cam motors don't have push rods.
