Apparently they want a 3rd round pick.

I'm not giving up a 3rd round pick for a guard turning 33 this year

I think we can get a quality guard in rd 3 this year if we really don't feel comfortable with Rishaw Johnson

If we were not willing to pay Schwartz why would we be willing to pay Mathis?
I hope we use our 4th to draft an OG, the way everyone talks about this draft and its depth...over 200 players with a 3rd round grade, we should be able to find our OG there and then sign someone like a Davin Joseph to a better deal for the Chiefs.

Because he's better.

Gotta make sure it's affordable. Who cares if the guy can actually play.

I don't think a RG should normally be getting paid more than the LG or your RT.
over 5.5 mil a year is steep for a RG IMO.
We don't need a long term starter if we are going to draft one this year in the 4th. We shouldn't really need that FA for more than a year..2 at the most before the draft pick is ready to take over.

We don't have a starting RG on the roster. And a 4th round draft pick sure as **** isn't going to be an immediate starter.

Why don't we just line up with 4 down linemen instead of beating around the bush?

No shit man. That is why I was saying we should sign another FA that has been successful but isn't wanting to be overpaid on his last contract before he is kicked to the curb. Someone along the lines of a Davin Joseph, not great but can get the job done for a year.

Oh and a 4th this year is the same as a 3rd any other year because of depth of the draft. There are teams that have successful started a 3rd round G as a rook.

Current KC cap hits along the offensive line.

Fisher: $5 million
Allen: $1.2 million
Hudson: $1.1 million
Johnson: $570k

I think Stephenson has turned the corner. He's serviceable now.
Hudson keeps being underestimated.
Everything else is complete $3it...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

To be fair, we do need to add a couple of 1st-round draft picks before they're ready to contend.
