What the hell are they going to do with the WR position?

I don't care how good of a play designer or play caller Reid can be, or if Alex Smith plays like he did in the playoff game for the entire season, we'd be lucky to average 20 points a game if our WR core becomes:

Avery, Jenkins, Hemmingway, Wilson/Williams/Dressler

Is Dorsey expecting our defense to hold opposing offenses to less than 10 points a game or something?

The only WR's out there right now who are worth even a tiny glance are:

Miles Austin
Santonio Holmes

That's literally it on the FA market.

Do we trade Flowers for someone? Who would make that trade? Hali?

It seems like the FO is betting on Jenkins, Avery, and Hemmingway to step up their games in year 2, but I won't be holding my breath on it.

Another possibility is that they expect Kelce back at full strength and expect him to be a 40-60 catch guy for us as an inline TE and occasional slot guy.

All I know is that Reid really has his work cut out for him. This offensive roster, in terms of receiving weapons, is nearly as bad as his early 2000 Eagles days when he had Todd Pinkston, Freddy Mitchell, and James Thrash as his top receivers. I just pray that Bowe can stay healthy and put up at least 80% of the production that Owens had for the Eagles in 2004.

Avery, however, says the talent that made him a second-round pick and a promising rookie is still there, and that the Colts just got themselves a playmaker. In fact, Avery claims that even after his 2010 knee injury, Avery got all the way back to full speed, to the point where he could run a 40-yard dash in 4.25 seconds.

“Last year after the injury, after the lockout, I did clock a 4.25,” Avery told Indianapolis reporters, in comments distributed by the Colts’ PR staff. “It was on grass and it was 40 yards in Houston.”

One reporter asked an interesting follow-up to that claim: Why did Avery run a 4.49-second 40-yard dash at the Combine?

“I had a pulled hamstring,” Avery answered. “I told all of the coaches before I had a pulled hamstring and they told me, ‘don’t do anything.’ But I just felt bad sitting back and watching other guys run and compete and I couldn’t participate. After that I did the gauntlet, re-strained it and had to sit out the rest of the Combine.”

There is your answer. If you think that Moncrief is as fast as Avery was, then you're a fool. Hell, all you have to do is compare what they did on the field.

Avery makes great catches at times and drops easy ones and gets up like he's injured every damn time. It's freaken annoying.

I never said he was a good WR, just that he's one of the fastest in the league.

We already have a big, physical wide receiver that doesn't know how to ****ing concentrate.

Go look at the tape of Avery coming out of college and tell me that Moncrief is faster than Avery.

Don't get me wrong, I like Moncrief and would take him in a heartbeat simply because he is a hell of a lot younger, bigger, tougher, with great athleticism for his size, and therefore he has a lot of potential. But don't lie through your teeth about his abilities and say that he's faster than one of the fastest WRs in the league.

I don't, but he's at least a 4.3 guy and definitely one of the fastest players every time he steps on the field.

Moncrief timed an official 4.40 on laser at the Combine.

Avery timed a 4.34 and a 4.35 on a stop watch at his Pro Day.

Avery has great speed but is inconsistent and always gets dinged up and probably spends as much time on the sidelines trying to recover from a hit as he does playing in the actual game.

Jenkins is a wildcard, he's going to either be mediocre again or the light is going to turn on for him and he might "explode" for some solid #2 production numbers this season. However, with his track record, you'd be a fool to bet on that.

And the rest are almost not worth mentioning.

The only other help you can really expect is going to have to come from Kelce and Fasano staying healthy and playing well.

It forces others on the team to step up their game as Bowe is no longer the focal point of passes thrown his way. If this happens it is two fold beneficial.

It brings us another legit weapon.

Bowe learns he is expendable and has to focus again or allows us to jettison him.
