Somebody's gotta have the inside scoop on Google Fiber launching tomorrow..??

Live broadcast over YouTube tomorrow. Anybody have any early news on this? Will it be available all over the Metro? How long will the waiting list be?

Anybody know anything? I'm impatient.

The largest gripe I have with Google Fiber is the guide. I think there's just a slight delay in navigation. It's not as seamless as time warner(can't believe I said that). My sister-in-law has dish and their guide is butter smooth and scrolls through pages very easily.

I deal with it, it's not a deal breaker to me. If I use my phone/ipad and just change channel that way it's smooth since I'm just navigating through the guide their and not on the tv with the remote. Overall I'm happy with it and do not miss Time Warner. Plus I save $50 a month.

The DVR storage box that comes with the TV is great, 2tb for DVR and Network facing folders for Video, Music and Photos. Save to the storage play on any TV box in the house or any PC, Tablet, Phone...

The DVR side is locked out, no access other than the TV boxes, not that big a deal.

And that's what i'm concerned about. I have Directv, and it is so smooth. When i go to my in laws, and use their Uverse, which I used to LOVE, it is so frustrating how slow the menu is and glitchy...

hopefully the guide speed will increase as their software etc is improved

tivo guide etc is much better than Directv brand

When FX did the Simpson marathon where they played every episode in order, I recorded every single one of them and still had room for regular shows too. Right now I have about 200 South Park episodes.

With it being google, I'm pretty confident it'll get better. That's just me, I have nothing to back that up.

How fast is the channel switch?
It's not consistently slow. I notice lag right at the top or bottom of the hour, but that's no big deal. I think its faster than what I had with TWC, and overall it's easier to navigate.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, it looks like AT&T is bringing their AT&T GigaPower to south Lee's Summit.

Anybody got any opinions/experience with it?

Looks like nearly a Gig down, but not much more than 10mb up. That sucks...

Why are you so concerned with the upload speed? Are you hosting servers or something?
