I went to Mazatlan, Mexico (sp?) when I was in the Navy and ended up drunkenly puking up pink mush in a hotel room (don't know whose) within forty-five minutes of setting my foot on dry land (a record for me) and managed to stumble back to the ship sometime later (with a little help) to sleep it off because I had duty the next day. I paid a guy $40 to stand my watch and woke up at the crack of Noon. I wandered to the mess deck (cafeteria) to get something to eat and ran into a little crowd. Apparently the actor who played the Hispanic LT. on Hill Street Blues was vacationing there and came aboard to visit us. A few guys asked him questions about the show (it had been canceled already) and he jabbered with us for a while then shook our hands and left.

Quite afew years ago, at Chubby's (the old one, not the new one across the street), we mercilessly made fun of a cast member fromt he Real World...
...okay, it wasn't mercilessly, we were too drunk for that. I also got Ashley Judd's autograph at a Royals game, as she was dating Brady Anderson at the time. |

At a party, I pointed Larry Eustachy to the bathroom right before he threw up in the living room.

Yesterday at the LL World Series Championship, Erin Andrews sat 2 seats over from my buddy and I as she waited for her next interview assignment. I nearly passed out from the hotness.

I saw Tom Osbourne at the Qwest Center in Omaha when the NU Volleyball team won the National Championship...and I saw Jim Fowler (Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom) in the elevator when I worked at Mutual...can't remember what he was there for, but that is one TALL mofo...

Rufus R. Jones at the Woodlands. I talked with him for a bit and all the while felt bad that my childhood wrestling hero had to work a $7/hr. security job.

Buying a magazine at the Tucson airport once, I looked over next to me and there was Al Michaels. Back in the day when he was on MNF and it was still good. Al Freakin' Michaels...I remember listening to him call the Miracle on Ice game.
And I choked. I wanted to say hello and tell him how much I liked his work, but all I could get out of my mouth was "gahh". He just looked at me like I was the biggest idiot he'd ever run into. Lame because of me in this case, not because of the celebrity. |

For those who don't know the name, Bill Kersten was the voice of wrestling back in the days when guys like Rufus R. Jones, "Handsome" Harley Race, and "Bulldog" Bob Brown would grapple at Memorial Hall for Kansas City's All Star Wrestling. He also later served as the mayor of Liberty (in the 90's I believe). I don't know if he owns the theater in Liberty or if he just works there to mingle with the people, but he's always got a smile on his face.

Lonny Anderson - Atalanta airport.
Worked a part time job where the middle kid from "Home Improvemet" (Johnathon something Thomas - or something, can't rememebr the name) was also working - mainly going on stage and letting the little girls ooh and aah. Met Larry Moore when his daughter was working for awhile with me. Fred Broski at a bar on 39th. Used to live below John Bilyew (sp?) and his wife. Long time ago. Mid 70's. (Probably only the old guys will know him) I was on Tory and old Gus. I visited Chuck Davis on set during the channel 5 afternoon movies. Olden days - mid 60's. My son has met and is actually friends with some of the guys in John Melloncamps band. Well, them and others... |

Sat next to George McGovern on a plane from Minneapolis to Seattle..nice old guy.
Sat next to Brian whatshisname...played for Royals, his old man was coach. Seemed cool. What was that old dude who played for StLouis...had the worst radio sports show in KC or World History...had mean rep as a player and sounded like he was quite addled on radio...rode plane from KC to Chicago with him.

I used to be a Saturn Mechanic in Wichita as a younger lad. I got to work on Ahman Green's 95 SL2.
It was gold and smelled of beer farts and Vanilla. |
