Why Manning ruled out KC...

Apparently, teams were pre-qualified by Manning prior to any visits. When Condon was contacted by the 12 teams, he told them that the contract Manning was starting at was 5 for 90 and going from there.

Teams either had to say in or out at that point.

From there, Manning narrowed his selections.

I was told this from someone yesterday, and then today on Twitter, a great guy to follow, Andrew Brandt commented on it as well. I was leery about what I was told, but this guy confirmed it.

The Chiefs never got past the pre-qualified stage.

Seattle did, but when Manning narrowed his choices, the roster had no appeal.

Just thought I'd post this since we had a lot of discussions about why the Chiefs never got a face to face.

Even I can't say that Clark is a football first guy.

He is absolutely a business first type owner.
**** that. If Denver's FO was truly football first, then why was Tebow penciled in to start this season? Why did they fall to public pressure to start Tebow in the first place? If they were football first, why weren't they out signing players while they waited for Peyton?

Can't trust anything that comes out of his mouth. Denver offered the most money and that's all he cares about.

There's no way you care about winning if you go to a place where Demaryius ****ing Thomas is the best WR on the team. The 49ers signed Randy Moss, and Mario Manningham while waiting for Peyton. I guess they're not a football first team either

Tebow's late game heroics and first playoff performance demonstrated that the Broncos made the right move.

The Broncos have a lot of nice, foundational pieces.

Von and Elvis combine for a nice pass rush and in today's NFL, thats arguably the most important part of defense.

Their offensive line is pretty good.

They have two nice receivers and presumably adding Clark at TE will really help.

That said, their secondary isn't good at all...thatswhy I feared them signing Brandon Carr.

Champ and Dawkins are done and their other secondary pieces are hot garbage.

Moving to a 4-3 takes Elvis and Miller out of their element a bit and losing DJ to suspension is huge.

Manning is gonna need to turn the clock back 4 or 5 years on his body if he wants to win a superbowl soon.

TBH, if KC finds a way to improve their qb play...I think we have a good shot at sweeping Denver and still winning the division.

They add Peyton Manning coming off major arm nerve problems and a fused neck (that will limit his dexterity) and not having played in well over a full calendar year to their roster and likely also adding Saturday and Clark to the teams offense.

So far, nothing on defense and Champ absolutely hit the wall last year...as did Dawkins.

KC will get

Charles - our best offensive player that forces teams to play us honest
Berry - our best defender and replaces Sabby
Moeaki - solid in all facets of the game except durability.
Winston - replaces Richardson
Kevin Boss - solid all around TE that is a great blocker
Peyton Hillis - Thomas Jones and Jackie Battle are gone and a guy that was good enough to be a madden cover player comes in for him.

That's 6 bug upgrades to last years roster already and we also have a lot of good draft picks to consider as well.

Even without those pieces, we beat Denver in the finale last year, even though they had their whole season riding on the game.

Manning better hope he is back to 100%.....

Denver doesn't care about winning. That's not what this move was about.

Elway wanted Tebow out. He couldn't do that without making this move. This move keeps some of the fan base happy. Elway never liked Tebow and wanted rid of him ASAP, but because of the Tebow love, he couldn't just cast him out. He had to do so for someone like Manning to make it look like it's all about winning a SB.

No QB has ever won a SB with two different teams. The odds of Manning taking the Broncos to a SB are astronomically against him. 36, coming off an injury on a new team. Pretty much a lock he won't make it.

But Elway can now trade Tebow, sit with Manning for two years while he drafts his OWN guy this draft and let's him watch.

This has nothing to do with winning games. It has everything to do with Elway asserting control.

Dawkins is done, Champ is not. Guy is still a top 7 corner in this league.

I also agree that Peyton Manning was the only guy that was going to unseat Tebow and that Elway wants to groom his own guy.

If you put any stock in PFF, he dropped from #2 overall to #16 last season.

I'd say further decline is inevitable.

Manning not visiting is a black eye to the FO, including the owner.

I definitely agree with this. They were looking for anyone to replace Tebow they just happened to get lucky that Manning was available.

No. Kyle was by far the better quarterback. Mark Sanchez practices the art of getting carried by a defense while Tim Tebow has mastered it.
