Restaurants of yesteryear

What Restaurants did you grow up around? I'm not talking super fancy and yes fast-food counts. What distinctive memories do you associate with them?

Mine?

Taco Via-(the lit up menu of the various taco plates displayed on the wall), WhiteCastle-On a paper plate with fries and Pepsi, Arthur Treachers(off Noland), Tippins(off Noland), Perkins(the free toy well), Country Deli(awesome local deli to Blue Springs heated sandwiches on Sourdough buns), Zarda BBQ and Dairy, FunHouse Pizza(of Course)(Dark. Video- Games,Electonic Riding Bull and 25-cent Taco night) Annes Sante Fe.

Keep in mind I never see these anymore living in Georgia.

That'd be a wise move to relocate to a location which has a track record of success. Not that, that is why Stephensons was so big. But it certainly doesn't hurt.

The 2 locations that I remember were the one at 71 HWY and Main Street in Grandview (which shut down in the late 70's and got turned into a gas station) and the one at Ward Parkway on the lower level to the right of the escalator that went down.

The reason they demolished the 87th street bridge right there was because a piece of it fell off, and I remember driving over there that in 1990 when I was in high school and that damn overpass needed to be replaced then.

7TH Heaven. Now that's a name I haven't heard in a while.

I remember in 8th grade I bought this purple AC/DC velcro-wallet there.

The Rusty Pelican on about 82nd between State Line and Ward Parkway. Great seafood, kinda pricey, but my wife used to work there in the mid-80's. Used to go in there (I called it "Jim's dollar night"-Jim was the bartender, and it was mostly every night) I'd get a bowl of clam chowder, and drink beer for a couple of hours, then ask him how much I owed him, and he'd say "a dollar eighty-seven oughta cover it."
It was never more than two dollars. But he made out great with the tip.
I think Sprint bought the building and turned it into a corporate something-or-the-other.
