Only on Chiefs Planet. I bet if Gabbert did something like this, this thread would get 25 responses. Envy makes you all look ridiculous. Dane and OTWP are the only sane ones that I've seen.

He went to a beach with a hat. It's not like he endorsed the Dolphins or anything. WTF?

It is just a stupid hat. But it's bad form. It's especially bad form to act like a complete dick when called on it. The dude is under contract to the Niners. It's similar to endorsing Nike but wearing Adidas gear around town. It's not the right thing to do for the brand and for the fans. There's a reason why tens of thousands of NFL players have never really run into this problem before. They have a brain.

Yea what I have been trying to explain to OTWP and Dane.

The proof it is stupid right in front of you. Nobody else is this stupid so it doesn't happen.

If it was written into the CBA that players can't wear any NFL gear other than that gear of the team they're currently signed, I'd agree.

But the guy was DRAFTED by the Niner's, took them to a Super Bowl, can't renegotiate his contract until after next season and isn't eligible for free agency until after the 2014 season.

But hells yeah, he's insulting The MAN.

If I had to work with someone with those thoughts, let alone FOR THEM, I'd give a swift **** punt and tell 'em to **** off.

It's not even remotely like that. Dolphins and 49ers aren't even in the same conference let alone division. That parallel of Nike and Adidas is straight awful. There is nothing wrong with what he did. Get the freak over it.

Why should he know better? He's a 23 year old kid from Turlock, CA that just happens to play in the NFL.

If I knew how to act as a 23 year old, I'd be a millionaire.

I dunno... maybe he wasn't a fan of a team growing up. If he was, he'd understand how that might upset people.

In the end, 9er's fans won't care as long as he keeps playing well, but if he slips just a little... look out.

Niner fans are lame. They're amongst, if not THE, wealthiest fans in the entire nation. I'm guessing most of the people that show up at the stadium on Sunday couldn't care less.

It's a silly non-issue, IMO.

he was a packer fan growing up, (grew up in Milwaukee) then when he moved later to cali, became a niner fan. So, where the ****ing Miami gear comes in, I don't know, and I am glad at least he has shown the real douche bag side of him, that I couldn't stand from the get go. This is yet another reason, I will always respect alex smith more. Kaep is a straight douche bag.......

Not to mention if I were the guy writing his checks, the one with the Niner logo on them, I would be ****ing pissed.

Does the "hat" effect what happens on the field? No other than it brings his intelligence into question and if you dont understand that, dont know what to tell you.

And like I stated if Alex Smith did that you would have a ****ing field day with it.

These arguments are asinine. The 49ers sign his checks...at a RIDICULOUS discount. Cut his ass, and he goes from making $700k to $7m overnight. The 49ers aren't doing him a favor.

...and it's nothing like signing a deal with Nike and wearing Adidas. He is paid to play football, not make fashion statements in the offseason. He had no choice as to who drafted him. As long as he wears the right helmet on Sundays, his baseball cap collection is meaningless.

Absolutely. I mean, ****, teams haven't had bounties out on opposing teams' QBs for years, despite recent hypocrisy citing otherwise, so I'd love to wear someone else's gear.

The truth is, however, that the stupid ****ing hat probably matched his board shorts. He wasn't thinking about it, got called out, and then snapped a stupid ****ing picture. Shit happens.
