Priest played well..

Would have been great if we'd had a real FULLBACK in front of him. Getting a fullback would also help out the O-Line.Like to see Grigsby get a full game behind him.

Not to rain on anyone's ramrodding of LJ, but out of curiosity, how much better was he?

I agree, it was nice seeing him play, and I really liked seeing a guy cut through the middle of the line on occasion rather than run into his blockers, but I sure hope he does better. Other than him actually making it on to the field and playing, what did he do? Do his stats from Sunday automatically rank him above LJ?

Not real powerful or anything, but he almost always moved the pile forward and had maybe 1-2 plays where he was tackled in the backfield - an accomplishment for this team (we lead the NFL in negative yardage plays and plays yielding no gain). I am discounting the one 14 yard loss as Priest was desperately trying to make something happen. I think we all forgave him for that as he was doing all he could for a hapless offense.
Priest was, by far, the most patient runner I've ever seen. For a while there, I thought LJ was picking up that skill by watching Priest - but he just doesn't seem to have the same quality. Priest also has phenomenal vision ... an amazing "sense" of where he is on the field in relation to the other players. Like Shields, Gonzo, Trent and a few others in this, most recent era, I consider myself fortunate to have watched him play on "my" team.

One of the interesting things about this situation is that Priest has never backed away from a challenge. The challenge now is how to get our run game going with the talent we have. Given that, there's no one I'd rather see in the backfield. I just wish he was 5 years younger.

No, but his stats rank him with LJ, something unheard of for a 34 year old RB who hasn't played in 2 years. By season's end, ya never know, Priest could be the 2nd coming of Marcus Allen who joined the Chiefs well into his 30s.

He made the most out of what he had to work with IMO. At least a few times, he turned what has been negative yardage for the team all year, into positive yardage. Small things.

Just like Croyle, I was thrilled to see it take an actual hit to get him down. Small things, Herm has lowered my standards and expectations.

He looked pretty good. Vision, speed, acceleration, power...not bad at all. He was obviously better than Kolby. Take it with a grain of salt though. Our run D has been terrible.

Oh stop it with reality! We're making a big deal out of what we want to see!

Hey, this Chiefs OL is capable of turning any run defense into a juggernaut. Remember the Peyton Mannings run D last year prior to the playoffs?

Things have really changed, it used to be our "Career Day Defense" that would make 3rd string QBs look like Joe Montana.

I have this mental image seared into my otherwise useless brainpan, Mr. TEX, of Priest going around the left edge with one hand cradling the rock and the other resting on TRich's back. Dunn and Roaf blocking in. Shields and Wiegman pulling. The defense racing from the weak side. The sun shining. Bodies flying. The crowd cheering.

Then, at the last, possible second, TRich would lower his shoulder, take his block to the right and Priest would make his final cut left, accelerating smoothly and gracefully into the endzone. Style.
