Ancient Aliens

I'm addicted to this show. I love it. I think most of their theories are complete speculation and BS, but just stuff about the mysteries of the ancient world are astonishing, regardless of the spin they put on it.

Are there any other shows, movies, or documentaries about the wonders of the ancient world?

More than 25 years? 25 years is a long ass time. I can definitely see how the pyramids could have been mad-made. It's some of the other shit they show in that series that blows my mind.

Yes, much longer than 25 years. Dude, they have been working on a HWY interchange here for 3 years. With fancy machinery. Giza is mind boggleingly huge.

They guess that it took around 25-35 years to complete the Great Pyramid. And I can see that being feasible, considering that they averaged about 25,000 workers at any given time over that 25-35 year span.

Just think if you could actually gather 25,000 people who actually knew how to put in a hard days work, and set them on a project spanning about 30 years in today's world.. The reason you don't see any pyramid building today is because putting those kinds of resources toward a project in today's world is just unheard of... It's not that we couldn't do it today, it's just that we don't commit that kind of manpower and time to anything anymore.

But there are people who have shown that it could be done. This guy has moved around a bunch of huge stones using nothing but rocks and wood. He moved a 9ton rock all by himself, and even set it upright similar to what was used at Stonehenge.

And how about Coral Castle? One 100lb. guy put Coral Castle together. He made a door out of a 9ton rock that can be opened by a child...

The Coral Castle has long been a subject of conspiracy and alien intervention/technology involvement. He talked about some special tool he had and never let anyone see him do his work further promoting the idea of extraterrestrial involvement.

Are there 30,000 people working on that HWY?

Some random dude from Florida got magic masonry help from secret aliens to build a stone tourist attraction? I'm trying to show that as an example of modern people doing what some people say can't be done, and that's the work of aliens too?

Those wacky aliens sure have a puzzling agenda with regards to human construction....

I watched a show on that. Very interesting. The Pyramids and the Sphinx are estimated to be around 4000 yrs. old. I bet the Sphinx is closer to 10,000.

People keep saying we don't know how they could have done all those things without power tools and such. But really, there's lots of proof of how the pyramids were actually built. There's even been demonstrations done using only the tools they would have had at the time. It's just that it's not as exciting to people as an alien-assisted explanation...
I could give you the Pyramids, but did you see the pics in post 41? Explain those intricate cuts.

It's also natural for people to assume the supernatural in instance where, even though there is a natural explanation, they don't know what it is. It's the same reason people once thought that lightning came from Zeus's anger, or that elves replaced babies with changelings, or that witches cast spells on teenaged girls to turn them into the devil's handmaidens.

Right. So all that information is just forgotten about and not shared with future generations?

If you look at the entirety of Puma Punku, you'll see anything but perfect detailed masonry. Since it was built over a long period of time, there's lots of evidence where you can see the builders making mistakes. Getting cuts wrong and abandoning the entire block, cracks from cuts requiring the block to be abandoned, etc. And the majority of the stone is sitting unfinished, uncut, or only partially cut. Archeologists can see different sections of Puma Punku that show where the builders started getting better at their stone cutting. The evidence of increasing sophistication is very clear, and it's pretty damning evidence against having some super advanced technology.

From an archeologist:

Quote:
Pumapunku is a site that forms part of the better known Tiwanaku (Tiahuanaco) complex in Bolivia. Although the ancient astronauts proponents try to ascribe a vast age to the complex (over 14,000 years is not uncommon), there is a radiocarbon date from a primary deposit of 1510 ± 25 bp, which calibrates to 517-605 CE at 96% confidence. This quite clearly puts the origin of the site in the sixth century CE; those who want an earlier origin have to explain why no earlier cultural material has been found at the site. The sites are known for their stone architecture, which displays features that are quite unlike Old World building techniques. The complex joints between the stones are sophisticated and designed to provide strong wall without mortar and maximum stability in an earthquake zone; they are not evidence that aliens guided the human builders, as the programme seems to have claimed, and exhibit increasing sophistication with time.
