Chiefs "How" do the Chiefs win? - Page 4

Okay, so even the most optimistic person on here would have to admit that the Ravens are the better team, at least on paper.

Perhaps, by some strange turn of events, the Chiefs are very talented and have just been grossly under coached over the last two years, but that has yet to be seen.

So, the only weakness on the Ravens defense I see is the corners. Only, you have to actually pass protect to take advantage of that.

The only weakness on the Ravens offense I see is Flacco. This kid took advantage of a good running game and having very little asked of him. I think he will be a good QB, but not great. I think he was able to catch the NFL off guard a little. I think the NFL will have more of a read on what he can do.

Clearly, the Chiefs are not going to run up a ton of points against that defense. I think the offense MUST stay patient and play field position. If the Chiefs can establish the run, even if they aren't just blowing open holes and creating long runs, I think they can take a couple of shots downfield.

On defense, the Chiefs need to make the Ravens earn every yard. I think the secondary can get a couple of INT's at the expense of a young QB who may become impatient.

He is a big mobile guy, but he also fumbles. The Chiefs have to get a few shots on him and get their hands on the ball.

Hey, if the Chiefs offense can keep from making mistakes, and if the defense can force the Ravens into making a couple mistakes... this could be a good game.

Either way, I don't 'think' the Ravens cover the spread. Not in their first game.

Who said anything about going deep. He might kill somebody on a slant. And by somebody, I mean the quarterback, between step 2 and step 3 of his dropback.

Well, I've said this about 2 thousand times; "When one is afraid to throw the slant because one might die, one must boot the offending defensive player squarely in the nads and take the 15 yard penalty. God loves a boot to the nads and it's 100 percent guaranteed to slow down a pass rush."

You're right though, he is quite a bit bigger than their CB's AND their safeties.....except Landry, Landry's just a few inches shorter. So maybe size will matter in this case.

He definitely has to be more consistent catching the ball.

My hope/hunch, is that this camp/pre-season is similar to his rook year...struggled throughout, but playing actual games seemed to focus him & bring out his best instincts.

Dude has made & can make some crazy catches, especially his rook year...i think with Haley dogging his ass & scheming for him, Bowe can turn it up a notch or 2.

True, but didn't he crash at the end of that year? I remember him being spectacular towards the beginning and then kinda doggin it later? Either way, he's got to be on all the time, not like we have any depth at that position. I was surprised they got rid of Lelie.

Yeah, whether anyone thinks he's got it or not, it would be better for us if he were on, because he's pretty much the only playmaker we've got.

He did kind of hit the freshman wall that year, but while not exactly shining, managed to avoid a sophomore slump last year...i'm looking for this to be his true breakout year, he will get more than his share of opportunities.

I agree. This D is 180 from last year. I see many more turnovers coming this year.

I think the key will be getting out to an early lead, keeping the defense honest, and NOT turning the ball over.

How funny would it be, with all the sobering predictions, if Air Haley unleashes some crazy aerial onslaught, and we win by a couple TD's. Granted, its a funny idea, because it won't happen.
