Best way to convert DVDs from different zones
I received a really nice boxed set of DVDs, but they are for a different world zone, and therefore, won't play on an American DVD player. There's a local place that charges $30 a DVD to do the conversion, which is ridiculous. I was wondering if any of you knew of a better alternative?

Get a region free DVD player. You can probably find a cheap one online for around $30. All that business does is rip your DVD with a region free player and reburn it for you.

You can't just change the current zone on a DVD. It's not rewritable information. Your options are either get a region free DVD player, or rip the movie on your computer with DVD ripping software, and write it back in DVD format without the incorrect region information, which is what the local place would do.

Ripit4me / DVD Shrink / DVD decrypter
They're made to work together, they'll rip any DVD, and make them region free. They're also free, pretty easy to use. **** paying some clown to do it. |
