Do you and your child know who Paul McCartney is?

Based on another thread, I would like to do a scientific study in this thread.

In the epic fail thread, there were some Facebook posts about people saying that "that Paul McCartney guy is going to take off now that Kanye did one of his songs".

The question in my mind is when people learn who Paul McCartney is. It's not unreasonable that an infant doesn't know Paul McCartney. At the same time, one would expect a 60 year-old to know who Paul McCartney is. But at what age does awareness begin?

So please do the following:

If you have children, ask them the question, "Do you know who Paul McCartney is?" and then report the answers back here. You can put in responses for as many as you like.

If you don't have children, ask the youngest person you see in the next 24 hours the same question above and their age, and report back. You can ask more than one if you like.

You can also answer for yourself, but ... most of you are old and highly sophisticated, so I'm more interested in the younger generation.

Poll forthcoming that is guaranteed to raise a smile, so get up, get out of bed, and drag a comb across your head. But if you don't want to, hey, life goes on, and nothing's going to change my world. I'll just let it be, and carry that weight as I rest in my little hideaway beneath the waves with my tangerine trees and marmalade skies.

When she was 20 months old, she appropriated the iTouch and soon thereafter, mastered it. She was creating folders and moving apps and favorites into the folder. It was pretty amazing to see.

Yeah, I don't agree with that approach. My daughter is a Daisy Scout and works out in the community, takes dance lessons, piano lessons, has play dates at the park each week, sang a song she wrote in front of 300 people back in November at her talent show and will begin a 10 week movie making course next week (3 hours after school, one day a week).

She's a social butterfly but a techie gamer geek at heart.

So for the parents of young kids, is it reasonable that 30%ish of 4 year olds would know who Paul McCartney is?

I haven't a clue. I think of young kid's parents being in their 20's. I think with You Tube and the Internet younger people know about the older bands. That's what I find, so it may just be true.

As a minor aside, I'm doing a study right now of child care, and it's in a pretty affluent area. It's amazing how many parents of pre-schoolers are in their 40s in that area. It may be an outlier due to its affluence, but it was more than 20 percent if I remember right. (I just glanced at the numbers the other day as they were being put together.)

I think it depends on the family. I live in a very artistic community. When the Beatles finally released their catalog to iTunes, there were billboards all over Hollywood, West Hollywood and Beverly Hills with pictures of the Beatles. My daughter, who was two at the time, recognized them immediately.

Most, if not all, of the children in our circle have parents that are artistic, one way or another, so all the kids are aware of the Beatles.

But elsewhere? I have no idea.

It's crazy. She's like 49" tall. She's growing up so incredibly fast, not because she lives a "fast" lifestyle through her parents but time is flying by more quickly than ever for me.

My 28 month old is speaking in sentences and just performed in front of about 200 parents at her Winter Celebration. She was a complete pro.

It's just...crazy.

The overwhelming majority of parents at our preschool are in their 40's. My 2 year old began in September and it's cool how so many people that were there with my oldest, are now there with their second's. It makes for a great community.

That said, when my now 7 year old started, several of the Dads were in their 50's.

I saw McCartney on Letterman about 5 years ago. He played on top of the Ed Sullivan theater. It was pretty incredible. The most memorable part of the show was when Dave came out beforehand and I got to ask him a question. (I was the only one in the audience he took a question from)

I asked if he'd rather go hunting with Dick Cheney or Sarah Palin. (This was during his feud with Palin and around the same time Dick shot that dude in the woods)

The audience erupted with laughter and Dave even laughed himself. After a chuckle he said "Well Josh, I think I'd be in trouble either way".

Then we got to see McCartney play 8 songs for free, right up front. One of the greatest days of my life.

And you have two now?! Wow! Time does fly. Congrats.

Mine covered her eyes the whole time when on stage at two and three. No performer she. Your first one is very tall for her age. She'll pass my height at age ten.

I have heard how there are more older parents nowadays. But I still see them having kids in their twenties. My cousin was 19 with his first with his wife being 23.

Surprisingly, that hasn't been my experience. These are "young" dads for their ages, fit, good health, pretty, younger wives. Money, too.

The older parent thing seems to be the norm here in Hollywood. Many established their careers, bought nice houses, married and finally had kids.
