No way. Fred Taylor gets injured just getting out of bed in the morning.
When an injury to Fred Taylor is announced, they usually sounds like this. "Well, Jaguars runningback Fred Taylor was injured in Sunday's game against the Titans, and in other news, the sun came up today." Its a common occurence. I would be totally shocked if Fred Taylor actually made it through a full 16 game season without an injury. Priest has had a couple of nasty injuries, but you dont see him sitting out when he is able to play through some pain. Everyone gets hurt in this league, its just what separates those who play through it, and those who get put on the injury report that makes a difference. Taylor gets a bruise anywhere on his body and hes out at least 2 weeks, Priest will gut it out and do what he can to help the team win. I think Priest will be fine. I dont know how much longer he will play, considering he almost pulled a Ricky Williams on us, but at least his reasoning would be understandable. He's over 30, and his body isnt as durable as it was earlier in his career. If Priest gets hurt again in a manner that costs him several games again this season, Id almost guarantee that he would go ahead and retire.

Not sure why so many people think Priest is going to retire after next season. If it is because of his retirement talk last year that was due to special circumstances that have come and gone. I would say if he stays reasonably healthy he might play up to 3 more years.

Didn't Priest come out and say he is ready to share the load with LJ? That is probablly the best thing he can do for this team at this point in his career. Don't worry about touchdown records, rushing records, all purpose yardage records or any of that shit. Just do your thing, and give way to the kid so you can get your feet back. I don't think he's going to retire for at least two more years. Or until we win it all.

Yeah, if Holmes wants to continue playing, Larry Johnson could extend his career a good deal in taking some of the load off of his shoulders.
It should also be a pretty good relief to Holmes to know that he's not the only guy capable of producing at the HB position for the Chiefs, so he doesnt feel like the weight of the entire offense is on his shoulders in regard to the rushing attack. Not like Al Saunders wants a rushing attack anyway, but in the very few games where they actually do get into a ball control groove and run the ball more than 15-20 times a game, Johnson will help Holmes out a great deal.

In a perfect world, this season I'd hope Holmes gets upwards of 1400 yards and Johnson half of that to 800 or so. Combined TD's between the two I hope is in the high 20's. A deceiving fact about this style of offense is that while it is very pass happy, it has, as long as it's been in KC one of the most capable running offenses in the league and there can be no argument.

I fully agree with you. Three years sounds about right, and judging by the wear and tear on him right now, i'd assume they are all extremely productive ones too. Who knows if we can keep Johnson for the duration of that time, but hopefully after both are gone, so is the stigma that KC cannot produce their own uber quality Rb's. |

Holmes and LJ both over 1,000 yards for a combined 2,500 plus yards and 30 TDs.

Kinda odd... if anything, Holmes could become Marshall Faulk. (although he pretty much is Faulk from a few years ago anyway) I would imagine that KC has learned some things with Priest, mainly using LJ more during the course of every game.
I think if they can give Priest 15-20 carries - you know he'll get 4-5 balls minimum thrown his way, with another 10 carries to LJ ... the offense will continue to dominate. I don't know that I would want to give Priest 20+ carries every game considering the injuries.
