IMO they should have tried to sign Evan Deitrich Smith and Chris Clemons

By not doing so, they have shown a ****ton of confidence in Hudson, Kush, Watkins, Abdullah and Commings.

2 or 3 of those guys NEED to step it up this year.

If they do, Dorsey and Reid deserve a lot of credit...on the other hand...

Chances are that the vets they signed or maintained on the roster prove to be at or just below replacement level....

It's a Hobbesian choice no matter what.

Dorsey brings in a solid veteran WR, then the discourse becomes "WTF why didn't you keep Schwartz?!"

If he retains or brings in a solid o-lineman, then it the discussion goes to "WTFBBQ why didn't you bring in a good receiver?!"

From an objective POV, Dorsey and Reid were ****ed no matter how they chose to address holes on the roster unless they were somehow gifted three draft picks within the first 46 slots.

He didn't play slot in either Harbaugh's offense or Reid's so...

I don't know what you're talking about.

Reid and Dorsey did NEITHER.

Neither in free agency nor the draft. (And a Canadian doctor does not count as an acceptable OT acquisition at this point.)

Correct. If you look at it from a free agency AND first round of the draft perspective, they did nothing.

But had they made a move to acquire one position or the other, I kind of feel like it wouldn't have been enough.

In your pursuit to use the term "Hobbesian" you left out the obvious and correct scenario which was they could have EASILY done BOTH.

BTW, I believe you're using the term "Hobbesian" incorrectly - in both the metaphoric and literal sense...

You can shove that pill...No sense of running from a hurricane till it hits you? If you choose to stay in its path and not prepare, then dont complain when it comes ashore and twists the **** out of said panties...Now is exactly the time for wearing twisted panties, its time to prepare so when the season gets here they'll be untwisted and the damage will be minimal ....

Sure are. Which is very surprising because both Reid and Dorsey experienced disastrous results just a few seasons ago when in the same position in Philly and GB.

What gets me is they chose to be in this position...

I don't see a 3/4 DT to back up Poe on the roster. If he gets hurt they might as well scrap the 3/4. Maybe that's the plan.

In December, Demetrius Harris was moved from the practice squad to injured reserve with an undisclosed injury. I think Dorsey and Reid see a lot of potential there and didn't want him poached. That potential, and AJJ's as well, may be why a WR1 prospect wasn't picked in the draft. If Harris is a player and the Chiefs go with some 3 TE offense, they may keep 4 TE, 4 WR, and 4 RB with both DAT and JC getting slot WR snaps while Davis gets a much larger role at RB.

I think, right now, it's Jaye Howard - he started that last game in SD and did pretty well.
