Ah. Good question. It looks like we have nine more, though a couple may have 5 matchups instead of 4.

So total of 14.

Red velvet cake vs. Homemade Custard Pie

I'm kind of neutral on both of these, but red velvet cake is red and has a cool name, so I'm going with it.

Pumpkin Cheesecake vs. Baked Alaska

Not into pumpkin flavors. Baked Alaska is pretty good and has a cool name, so I'm going with that.

Tiramisu vs. Vanilla pudding

I should probably go with tiramisu because it's got a cool name, but it often seems like tiramisu has a coffee flavor that I don't like, so I'm going with the 'nilla puddin'.

Coconut Cream Pie vs. Turtle Cheesecake

I'm recognizing that I'm a bit of a purist on cheesecake. Turtle cheesecake would be good, but not as good as plain cheesecake. I like the clean and pure flavor of coconut pie, so it's my choice here.

? I assume you know that the tiramisu includes espresso...which would explain the coffee flavor.

Good tip -- Whole Foods (if they have them wherever you may be) has an excellent tiramisu for a store-bought.

I guess that would explain it. Any time I have it I want to like it, and then I taste that bitter stuff in it and think, 'what the heck is wrong with this?'.

Yeah. It's too bad you can't get past it, because tiramisu is one of the "desserts of the gods", along with vanilla bean cheesecake and a properly proportioned strawberry shortcake (with vanilla ice cream, of course).

I'm hoping banana foster is on your list somewhere here? That's a recent discovery for me, because I didn't used to think that bananas were a great idea for a dessert ingredient (and no, I've never had a banana split either, but that's likely to change soon also).

It seems like it should be good. I just wish they'd replace the espresso with more chocolate. They're both beans.

Bananas Foster is indeed in the tourney. Like you, I don't really view banana as a dessert thing, but if it's the main theme like the grilled bananas with homemade caramel sauce I made a while back, it works.

You've never had a banana split?

I'm surprised so far. Turtle cheesecake is no slouch, and coconut cream pie is handing it its lunch in the early going.

Turtle cheesecake might be very good, I just prefer my cheesecake plain.

Homemade Custard Pie - Sounds yummy

Baked Alaska - I'm not a big fan of pumpkin

Vanilla Pudding - Close call for me

Coconut Cream Pie - I love this one. Probably a top 3 for me especially if you make it Coconut/Banana cream pie. Reminds me of a childhood's worth of watching Gilligan's Island.
