Well, Corvettes and Vipers will always be collectables.
I'd say the H2 maybe. But the nature of the business has made it unlikely for a particular model to hold the appeal like they once did. There are too many models to choose from, so you don't have an ernormous contingent of people saying "the 1989 Taurus was my first car too" like you saw with the '57 Chevy. I think that's what drives these older cars to be so collectable, the combination of a great car and a lot of people being nostalgic about them.

My best guess would be the Prowler - very unique and didn't sell in great numbers. Secondary guesses would be Crossfire, Pacifica, and maybe the PT Cruiser because it was such a classic "innovation" at the time and really brought on the re-invention of classic design elements.

Other than the Viper and Corvette, and the rare exotics, I'd say none.

The Toyota Tacoma. It survives being hit by asteroids.

It seems like a large percentage of sports cars that might otherwise be collectible are bought today at the economy trim levels. I doubt if many will be collecting the V6 model of a Charger or Magnum or whatever 50 years from now, though, they will lust after the V8. So while many more cars are produced today, I think that the difference between the tiers of the car will keep the rarity factor in play.
I would guess that probably any of the higher end sports cars would be classics. It seems like a car needs to be at the top end of affordable performance for it to become legendary - not so expensive that no one could buy it at the time, but expensive enough to where they weren't super-common. |

I've driven that beast a few times, and it is flat out scarey when you put the pedal to the metal. As for the original question, I'd have to agree with Brock. The hi-end Vettes and Vipers will prolly increase in value over the years, but that's about it. |
