Not really... quality far trumps quantity. The salary cap is not really an issue for us this year so we might as well spend it on people who can start on Day 1.

Now, like I said before. If they want to throw Newman into the mix.... I might consider talking. Especially since Law is gone (thank god) and Surtain is now having boxes of Metamucil delivered to 1 Arrowhead Drive.

Unfortunately you are not thinking with Carl's brain....you are thinking rationally. My concern is that Carl would jump at the chance to move down, take the extra picks, and pick up players he can sign to a lesser dollar.

That only works if he takes the saving and uses it to pick up someone who gets released later because of salary constraints of another team.

Do I want it to happen? No, because we need the pick to get a top-quality player for this team. But that is me and not Carl. Anyone thinking that this couldn't happen is kidding themselves....we have been shocked before,

You can't always go by the draft value chart. There are 6-7 elite prospects in this draft and the drop off after that is immense. Our pick is worth 2-300 more points than usual just based upon that.

I think most of the time the value chart gets kicked to the curb, unless some GM wants to justify his conservative picking.
