But here's the thing - Pest, is anything he said there inaccurate?
He's a big, strong-armed QB with bad feet that leaves the pocket too soon. He came up from a spread offense and needed to learn a lot at the NFL level. Absolutely all of that was accurate. What he didn't get right was his belief that Gabbert would be able to overcome that. Frankly, I don't believe Gabbert had a prayer in JAX. That was an awful situation, especially for a kid that clearly needed a year or even 2 of study and preparation for this level. Mayock wasn't wrong in his analysis, he was just wrong in how Gabbert developed. Can you really hold the fact that Jacksonville threw Gabbert to the wolves well before he was ready? I like Mayock quite a bit.

Locker? Ponder? Dalton? In hindsight, Kaepernick is likely to be a very good one, but you're full of shit if you try to claim you were on board with taking him in the top 5. I mean hell, look at how loaded the top of that draft was. Miller, Green, Peterson, Jones, Smith and Watt are all insanely good. Newton is clearly the only person that belongs in that class of players and even then, Miller, Green, Smith and Watt are arguably more valuable. And Mayock was hardly alone on not like Newton. What I'm trying to say is that he really didn't miss by much, did he? He believed Gabbert could be developed to overcome shortcomings that he clearly identified - it didn't happen (and the Jags are at least partially responsible for that). It wasn't a JaMarcus Russel will be the next Elway style ****up...

I've been saying for MONTHS that once Mayock comes out with his top 5s, everyone else will fall in line.

College athletes have a difficult time verifying their accounts.
I think Johnny football is 1 of 2 athletes to have their accounts verified. In most cases I think the agents are the ones who verify their accounts and obviously these guys don't have agents yet (supposedly lol). One of the guys I follow said he verified through someone at WVU that the one I just posted is his real account. |

Not to mention that before he declared that he wasn't entering the draft, Kiper had Landry Jones as his number 4 overall player last year.

Last time I agreed with Mel Kiper ? Never!
Now I will give Kiper credit, Glennon will go 1st rd, but later in the 1st round. Depending on his work outs, 4th or 5th QB taken.
