John Wick

Yes, it's a former-hitman-comes-out-of-retirement-for-revenge movie. Yes, it stars Keanu Reeves as the aging hitman. Yes, it looks pretty badass.

It's also getting a bunch of pre-release love...

(Credit to GoChiefs for posting the trailer in the movies thread, causing me to research it a bit more. Maybe this movie needed its own thread, maybe not. We'll see when it gets released.)

I remember it getting acclaim from CP but miraculously I had low expectations. My buddy and I both had shorty weeks and thoroughly enjoyed watching people die horribly. Good movie. One of the best of the genre. Predictable but what revenge flick isn't. Best thing about it is that it didn't take itself too seriously.
IMO, it was a great escape. Not too heavy, not too goofy. The less Keanu speaks, the better. Great stunts, lots of killing, lots of fun. And Adrienne Palicki is always welcome.

I really enjoyed this film too, but based on reviews I was expecting a bit more from the story line. I'd compare with Fury Road. Ignore the plot, or lack there of, and revel in the action scenes. Love revenge porn. This one definitely goes high up on the list.

And yeah, Keanu kills it in this. Mainly because he doesn't talk much!

Watched it last night. Bad as movie. Definitely the right length. Usually they try and make the movie longer with uses back story.

Hopefully they won't pigeonhole "John" as an assassin who's just trying to remain settled with his quality of life while successfully defending himself from more Russian gangsters like Liam Neeson's Taken

Ah, yeah, me too a bit now that I think about it. That movie is a guilty pleasure of mine.

Cool. I'll watch it. Maybe even go to the theatre for it. I enjoyed the first one quite a bit, really a fun movie that keeps your attention. I bought a copy of it for my savagely ADHD sister and it even kept her glued to the screen.

Watched it this weekend after Kingsman last weekend.

Very good, very entertaining movie. I still think I liked Kingsman just a little bit more.

It doesn't seem to lend itself exceptionally well to a franchise but maybe Hollywood writers are a little more clever than I give them credit for and can spin a solid story or two out of it.

There were a lot of fun ideas thrown out there in the movie. I could see a sequel based in that neutral ground hotel.
