The much-discussed potential trade of Branden Albert from the Chiefs to the Dolphins doesn’t appear likely at the price Albert is currently seeking.

Although the Chiefs and Dolphins can probably agree on compensation — the Dolphins sending a second-round pick to Kansas City — the hangup is that Albert wants the kind of money that the Dolphins aren’t willing to spend. Specifically, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, Albert wants between $8 million and $9 million a year on a long-term deal.

In other words, Albert is looking for the same kind of contract that left tackle Jake Long got from the Rams — the very contract the Dolphins wouldn’t give Long, which is why he left Miami for St. Louis.

If the Dolphins weren’t willing to pay Long that kind of money, it’s hard to see why they’d be willing to give up a second-round draft pick for the privilege of paying Albert that kind of money. So the Dolphins may need to look elsewhere for a left tackle. And Albert may have to settle for playing this season for the Chiefs, making $9.8 million, and hitting free agency next year.

Albert's agent totally ****ed him. Shoulda taken whatever reasonable offer the Chiefs had on the table back when they were making offers to both him and Bowe. Now Albert will get peanuts in comparison. He has no leverage. He signed the tender. If his back flares up, he gets nothing next year.

But it is still 8 to 9 million and a 2nd round pick. They could have had Long for the same money and saved the pick. There are other 1st round OT's in this draft. They might have to reach a bit, but there are also rumors of the Falcons and 69ers looking to move up too.

Ya, I wouldn't say injury prone. He missed 3 games and that's the first time it was his back I believe. He passed his physical. Now let's say we kept him and he misses 8 games due to his back, then you can make the argument. But not now.

Honestly, Albert's going to have to agree to a smaller contract if he wants to be a Fin (which TBG has stated), or he's going to have to learn to love guard here in Kansas City.

Like I said before:

Trading Albert and picking Joeckel is dumb.

Keeping Albert, moving him to guard and picking Joeckel to play LT is reeruned at a level the previous scenario doesn't begin to reach.
