The much-discussed potential trade of Branden Albert from the Chiefs to the Dolphins doesn’t appear likely at the price Albert is currently seeking.

Although the Chiefs and Dolphins can probably agree on compensation — the Dolphins sending a second-round pick to Kansas City — the hangup is that Albert wants the kind of money that the Dolphins aren’t willing to spend. Specifically, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, Albert wants between $8 million and $9 million a year on a long-term deal.

In other words, Albert is looking for the same kind of contract that left tackle Jake Long got from the Rams — the very contract the Dolphins wouldn’t give Long, which is why he left Miami for St. Louis.

If the Dolphins weren’t willing to pay Long that kind of money, it’s hard to see why they’d be willing to give up a second-round draft pick for the privilege of paying Albert that kind of money. So the Dolphins may need to look elsewhere for a left tackle. And Albert may have to settle for playing this season for the Chiefs, making $9.8 million, and hitting free agency next year.

What's ****ing crazy is this whole possibility of creating a market for teams looking to move up to get one of the LTs is only plausible if the Chiefs didn't make the Albert contract and interest in trading him all very public.... without that we NEVER would have teams reaching out about 1.1 bc they figured find a draft partner around 3-5 and give up less....

I think people are looking to trade up for a tackle because everyone and their mother are saying that the best three tackles will be gone by the fifth pick tomorrow. The whole point is compensation because the teams that need a tackle aren't offering good compensation and we probably want to much. It will be interesting to see what kind of negotiating power Dorsey has.

Pick up another R2 pick this year or next to move down with someone like Detroit, who needs an OT ink a bad way.

Someone's gonna bite, its the up sell. I like the 50 inch TV, but shit for $200 more I can get the 65 inch. Well... damnit if I'm already spending this much and this is gonna be my TV for quite a while that seems like its worth paying just a little more rather then having buyers remorse over a paying a little more bc I've targeted my choice and def. don't want to cave on getting what I really feel is worth making this investment in....
