Good article Breakdown of Chiefs Offense Problems

Sorry if repost. This article may already be located deep in some other thread.
I think it deserves it's own thread though. And since I am awesome, you are going to let it slide. Discuss more Alex Smith/ Andy Reid/ and OL hate here.

In a lot of ways, yeah. He runs too little overall, doesn't run in obvious run situations, and manages the 2 minute drill as bad as any coach I've ever seen. He's also pretty notorious for clueless coach challenges.

When it comes to Alex being too timid to throw beyond 10 yards... that's not Reid nor is it design as much as some want to pretend. Alex has taken his timid QB play to the next level of timidity. No other QB under Reid has been so timid throwing the ball. I'm not sure I've seen many QB's who seem scared to throw over 15 yards even when the guy is wide open.

KC brought in bizarro Marty, and we're going to reap marty like results.

His QB and O-line simply didn't get the job done.
Dude....you're arguing with a wall. Reerun will always blame the coach.

Reid's playcalling has been suspect in some games (Titans and 49ers) but I think it's looking even worse right now because of the QB's inability to throw the ball and make the correct reads....and then Reid's inability or unwillingness to pull players like McGlynn from the starting lineup.

What I find strange is with how much teams key on Charles throughout a game, he's still wide open on several plays per game.

That's not even Smith's fault as we know Jamaal is always his first read The line needs to do a better job of keeping Smith in the pocket for that extra second so he can check it down.

Coach is still leaving in the check down option in his play calling and play design..

You cant ask for someone to change when you keep giving them the option to take the easy way out. Its not rocket science.

IF Reid wants Alex to throw to open receivers then Reid needs to take away his safe outlets.

Well no shit. Not giving him a checkdown option would be horrible play design.

The receivers aren't going to be able to break free every single play. You don't just leave your QB hanging out to to dry no matter how badly you want to force him to throw downfield.

THAT is a recipe for disaster.

Its the same shit we went through Cassel and Haley... Gonna go through it again with Reid and Smith...

And why not blame the Coach.... Look at the Chiefs coaching hires the past 30 years...

I agree that we don't run the ball enough, and on the McGlynn comment, but I wouldn't calling Reids playcalling 'suspect'. We run the same passing concepts as other NFL teams.. it wouldnt matter where Alex went, if he isn't making reads there isn't anything Andy can do to help make him throw the ball. Teams are already rotating a safety down on us to stop charles. I was a big Alex supporter until I started looking at some of A22 from the past few games. I know its not all Alex's fault, but he has to throw the damn ball.

I get why he would be gunshy in the pocket, but he's gonna have to get over it.

Improve the ol, get 1 wr and go.

I actually like albert wilson as a wr. Might have something there

Got it, makes sense.

As long as there is a check down available, Smiths shitty ass will take it. Proof is in the pictures and breakdowns. Smith sucks ass and is always gonna take the easy way out.

Lets see....

With Reid we KNOW he can build and coach a high-octane offense. He's proven it.

Smith has proven dick aside from being a scared check down captain.

Receivers are breaking wide the **** open down field and the throws aren't being made.

Now, judging by their history, it's pretty damn obvious it's a Smith problem.

I meant suspect as in he stopped running the ball when it was working in a close game like the 49ers.

Yeah....Smith has to make those throws and I ****ing despise him for it, but Reid also has to know what's working and stick with it.

Exactly, so take away his pacifier and force him to throw down the field.

That's all I am saying. don't give him the option to bail out and take the safe easy route.
