Herb Taylor... 6th round pick
http://gofrogs.cstv.com/sports/m-foo...herbert00.html
Overall: Taylor was redshirted in 2002. He then stepped in as the starting right tackle for all 13 games during the 2003 season. Taylor again started all 11 games in 2004 and all 12 games in 2005. Taylor started all 13 games during the 2006 season. He tallied 49 consecutive starts for the Horned Frogs at right tackle since taking over as a redshirt freshman in 2003. Taylor's mobility makes him a perfect fit for a team that features zone blocking and/or values athleticism over size, such as the Colts and Falcons. He has good upside because of his feet and we like the aggressive, smart and physical manner in which he plays the game. If Taylor can get bigger and stronger while adjusting to the NFL, he could become a mid-round steal from the 2007 draft class. Last edited by recxjake; 04-29-2007 at 01:45 PM.. |

Which is odd with the way Herm called plays last year, we were going away from athletic blocking and more for straight ahead power blocking.... |

I like This Kids attitude.
It's out of my hands now Herb Taylor was a two-time first-team All-Mountain West Conference performer as an offensive tackle for TCU. He is chronicling his experiences leading up to the NFL Draft, as told to Star-Telegram staff writer Charean Williams. It's almost here! A week from today I will for sure know where I'm headed. I can't wait. I was worried a few weeks ago, thinking about it all the time, wondering where I was going. Now, as the time draws closer, I'm just taking it all in and trying to enjoy the experience. I'll never get to do this again. I know that there is a plan for me. Whatever happens, happens. I'm really just putting it in God's hands. I feel great about it, that it's going to work out for me. You hear everything. My agent, Jeff Nalley, told me he's heard anywhere from late in the third round to the fifth round. But who really knows? I mean, no one even knows who the Raiders are going to pick with the first choice. I don't know that the Raiders even know. So who knows where I'm going, or when. We have heard from the Jets, the Texans and the Packers, and, as you know, I worked out for the Cowboys. I've gotten positive feedback. I just want to play -- anywhere. Although I grew up a Cowboys fan, and my home is Houston, it doesn't really matter where I play. I just want a chance. I know one of the things working against me is my size. I'm not 6-foot-5 or 6-6. I'm 6-4. But if you stand me up, back-to-back, with a guy who is 6-5, the difference is between the fingers. If you can play, you can play. It doesn't matter how big you are. I am definitely out to prove my critics wrong. My main goal is to outplay every tackle in this draft. I want to have a longer career in this league than any other tackle. I'll probably spend Friday night at my mom's house. The draft starts at 10 a.m. Saturday. At first, I didn't want any kind of party, but the closer it's come, I've decided I do want to do something. So we're going to have food. We'll have barbecue and crawfish, and whoever wants to come through can. If I don't get drafted Saturday, there will be plenty of food left Sunday. I will go to church Sunday before the draft starts back up. The big party will come a week after the draft. We're going to have people over to watch the fight -- Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather -- and to celebrate. Whatever day I'm drafted, and wherever I end up, it's all going to be good. |

I think its a good pick. He will be a right tackle in the league IMO. Good depth which every team needs.

If you have a strong running tackle at RT you can get away with a smaller LT that can protect the QB. Now this is a Tackle that played on a team looking to pass. It is a good gamble.

Taylor is smart, mobile and nasty. Could he potentially project as Wiegmann's replacement, or a better version of Bober who could play a couple of positions on the line?

I kind of like the Eli Whitney/ Andrei Kalashnikov approach to the draft:

He's a bouncer in a bar in Salina.
He plays paintball on the weekend.
