That's the difference between living in the hood and living in a nice neighborhood, driving a new car and a used car, having kids comfortably and not having kids.
It's huge. |

Or that the 60k/year job makes you so miserable outside of work that it's not worth the headache....

IDK about "living in the hood" I used to make significantly less than $38k/yr and I have always lived in nice neighborhoods

"Quite a bit more" than 60 is over 100k... Probably semantics but it seems like you're contradicting yourself.

The Benefits package for the 60k/yr job are average to good while the benefits package for the 38k/yr job is top tier.

Yea I was a bit off on that comment and it didn't sound right. I will say the difference in making 22k more than 60k is not as different as making 22k than 38k. That's a world of difference in the later scenario. Life changing actually for many I would think.

If a person can live off the 38 comfortably and enjoy their job that is the one I would pick..it's something you do 40+ hours a week..if you are miserable that much life just ****ing sucks

I pay for my insurance out of my pocket and my employer match on my 401k is dreadful. If we are talking top-tier benefits at this salary difference, I'd consider the 38k/year job then. It limits your unexpected costs for healthcare which is huge for many of us. |

There are some issues to consider. Does Job B have growth potential, or is that all you'll ever make? And how bad is Job A? Do you dislike it, or are you ambivalent about it?
And importantly, is the excitement of Job B sustainable? My concern is that all jobs become routine after a while. Even those guys who brush the sand off of supermodels' derrieres during beach shots get tired of doing it after a while. Will Job B eventually become Job A? I feel like we all should say Job B, but man, $22,000 is a big difference. After taxes, Job B = Job A + 6 weeks in Europe every year.

Yeah I would be finding another gig. I just went through that crap. I would start thinking about going to work on Monday about Saturday at noon. It got to the point I was just ready to walk. Thankfully all that has been remedied at this point. Great job, great pay without the misery. Life is too short for a shitty job or bad beer.
