2013 NFL Sunday Ticket + Alternatives

I know we had this thread last year, but things change every year so I thought I'd post this.

I've been with DirecTV for about 6 years now for the Ticket, but I can't afford it anymore. So I thought I'd see what things we learn as we negotiate, work around the Ticket, and find ways to watch our Chiefs games out of market as affordable as possible.

I know there's a promotion with Madden 25. What else is there this year?

odd. I haven't called again but I now notice a $10/12 month base package credit has been added to my account. I didn't ask for the credit but it looks like its been issued. Still gonna make the call today.

My service is going to be terminated tomorrow.

Wouldn't do anything to keep a 12-year customer because they said I received 600 dollars in credits over the last 5 years.

My brother received over 500 dollars last year and his bills aren't 1/3rd what mine are, so their system is clearly flawed. I haven't received a credit in over a year either.

Spent 3 grand last year with them. They can fist themselves.

You don't get the games live but if you can keep from seeing the scores until the Sunday night game is finished then it's just as good for a pretty reasonable price.

This whole system of requiring people to call in to get the best deals is ****ed. Just charge a better rate for everybody. instead of screwing the few people who do pay full price. Glad I dropped DTV a few years back.

I would drop it when we move back to KC in about a year but my wife is a Cowboys fan so we'll stay with DirecTV.

I've heard the NFL and DirecTV are close to a new deal by the way.

I was hoping something else would happen. I would drop DTV in a second if they didn't have Sunday Ticket. I'm tired of them giving me credits, then taking them away. I swear I haven't paid the same price for the package I never change for more than 2-3 months at a time. I hate them.

It's certainly not great for consumers, but I can't imagine that more than 5% of their customers actually call in and get a discount. They're making far more with the inflated prices than they would if they dropped them to a more reasonable amount I'm sure.

I've talked to plenty of people that don't call in each year to get a better deal. They just pay full price for it and don't give a shit. ****....I did it myself up until 3-4 years ago. I was paying $300+ a year for it and didn't really think about calling in for a better deal.

just got $100 off ST max plus the $10/12 month credit. Just said they've been real helpful in the past on working with me on the price and thought if we can give it another go again this year. never mentioned canceling my service or anything. just how hard it is being a Chiefs fan.

Just got off the phone with DTV and I did pretty well. I got Sunday Ticket free. Plus $45 a month in credits for the next year. Also upgraded all my equipment to the new genie. Very happy. He would have given me Max for half price, but I had it last year and other than red zone channel I really didn't use it.

He also told me that next year when the credits are due to come off to call directly to retention and they can hook me up with the credits again.

Directv called me once today after my service was shut off at midnight. They left a message.

Flagging my account for 600 dollars is a load. I'll call them back Sunday and unless they offer me something substantial, I'll just use Apple TV for the remainder of the summer before deciding what to do next.

Wait 30 days and have your wife sign up under her name. Get the new pricing where everything is free and way cheaper.

I'd like them to lock in some sort of pricing for a year and not have to agree to a contract and simply tell them, if you do your job I'll like your service, and I won't have to cancel. But if you keep adding and dropping credits and making my bills change monthly, I'm done and without a penalty.

I went without a contract for a very long time. They are more willing to work with you without the contract, but almost everything comes with the caveat that you sign one. Tell them no and stick to it.
