Because of his performance, past behavior or a little of both?
As someone who didn’t grow up reading comic books I have no idea is his performance in any way matches to the source material, but what little exposure I’ve had from film the character has always been at least a little odd. So while he was a tad annoying, it sort of fit with what I’ve come to know.

But to be fair - this movie suffered from being stuck in developmental hell for years, and having directors on a carousel leading the project. I think he did ok to pretty good in spots, but his take on the Flash or Miller the actor isn't enough to lead a film, much less a tentpole DC character like Flash, imho. I liked the film, but I'm not real shocked to see it spiraling down, either. |

Mostly OT, so someone is welcome to find a better thread to put this in, but James Gunn has announced the new Superman and Lois Lane:
David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan are officially your new Superman and Lois Lane |

I also think this is probably part of the reason Flash bombed so bad, they essentially told everyone it didn't matter. I bet Aquaman 2 bombs too. |

I actually liked the CW series for a while; it got really full of teenage angst which lost me.
A bit like SuperGirl when it decided to go totally off the rails. I'm not the target audience however I do appreciate the female form in a tight outfit. |

Lucky for him, the superhero genre is used to constant reboots and remakes lol comic book fans have been conditioned for decades now and the average movie goer has gotten more of the same over the last 20-ish years. As always, they just need to make good movies. They start doing that and everything else will fall into place. |

Well...
I thought the movie was OK as a mild diversion. The guy playing Flash was really annoying. He always was, but the younger version was like a really bad rip off of Keanu Reeves. Hard to put up with. The best parts of the movie were the cameos and they were enjoyable. I liked Keaton as elder Batman. He did a very good job of it. He could carry a Batman Beyond story, but I'd rather see Pattinson again. I also have to mention that Sasha Calle was very cute as a brooding, intense Supergirl. The thing was kind of a mess but an entertaining mess. Still, I'm not interested in seeing anything else about the Flash ever again. |

If the guy that played The Flash in the CW show had gotten the movie gig it would have done much better.

It wasn’t a great movie but I am a sucker for all things multiverse..
Keaton’s Batman was awesome. Supergirl was awesome. I’ve long wondered why the creative team decided to have Flash run so weird and it finally paid off with the one joke when he tried running without powers. Still think it’d be cooler if he ran with normal form! I think the younger/older Flash dynamic actually worked well. The character is ****ing annoying. He’s not even lovably awkward like Peter Parker. He’s just a weirdo. Near the middle it was nice to see older Flash unload on younger Flash about being a douche and it was cool to see younger Flash get serious at the end when it came to protecting their mom. The CGI was some of the worst I’ve ever seen in a movie of this prominence. I also don’t understand the time travel in this one. I just don’t understand how going back in time changes the past as well as the future. Like, I understand how Flash saving his mom can lead to changes in the timeline from that point moving forward, but how does him going back to save his mom also change the timeline to having Superman dead, Wondee Woman not around, Steve Schultz (or whoever) playing Marty McFly? That just doesn’t make any logical sense. Then it seems a little strange that the message did a complete 180 at the end. Whole movie is basically about how you can’t change the past, blah blah. Then at the very end they change the past just enough to save Flash’s dad! Wtf. I guess they’re leaning into the whole “some things are just fixed moments in time” thing there. |

I was entertained watching on HBO. It has funny parts and the batman nostalgia was cool. Still a crazy movie that has ridiculous CGI and seemed like most of the movie was that. Thought the flash character had heart and was likable. Still after all that I'm glad I saw it at home. Supergirl wasn't bad at all either. The ending was kindve dumb but I get it...after credits too.
I'm ready for the new DC though and hope Gunn can bring some good stories. |
