Keaton’s Batman was awesome. Supergirl was awesome. I’ve long wondered why the creative team decided to have Flash run so weird and it finally paid off with the one joke when he tried running without powers. Still think it’d be cooler if he ran with normal form!

I think the younger/older Flash dynamic actually worked well. The character is ****ing annoying. He’s not even lovably awkward like Peter Parker. He’s just a weirdo. Near the middle it was nice to see older Flash unload on younger Flash about being a douche and it was cool to see younger Flash get serious at the end when it came to protecting their mom.

The CGI was some of the worst I’ve ever seen in a movie of this prominence.

I also don’t understand the time travel in this one. I just don’t understand how going back in time changes the past as well as the future. Like, I understand how Flash saving his mom can lead to changes in the timeline from that point moving forward, but how does him going back to save his mom also change the timeline to having Superman dead, Wondee Woman not around, Steve Schultz (or whoever) playing Marty McFly? That just doesn’t make any logical sense.

Then it seems a little strange that the message did a complete 180 at the end. Whole movie is basically about how you can’t change the past, blah blah. Then at the very end they change the past just enough to save Flash’s dad! Wtf. I guess they’re leaning into the whole “some things are just fixed moments in time” thing there.
Flash's dad was saved but some stuff is different and he's now going to stay in that world. That's how I thought it was and helps explain if we never see Ezra's flash again. That said idk why he had to do that. I heard this movie had more stuff but was edited to exclude Cavill superman and other future DC stuff that was there before Gunn took over.

Ahhhhh, so you think they were creating the back door to writing out Ezra Miller? That would make sense.

I suppose I don’t know much about the contract particulars but in my head, I was thinking they were keeping Ezra Miller’s Flash, Momoa’s Aquaman and Gadot’s Wonder Woman. Or at least I’d only heard they’re ousting Affleck’s Bats and Cavill’s Supes.

Idk. They can pretty much do whatever they want. Even the post credits scene implies Momoa’s Aquaman is pretty much a constant in every universe, which is hilarious because he literally doesn’t even exist in the main one we see in this movie lol what a mess

One more thing.. and this is a bigger issue with time travel in general, but nothing ever matters once it’s unlocked. Anytime something bad happens in the future, we’ll wonder why Flash doesn’t just go back in time to fix it.

I would assume that Ezra Miller is done in DCU with all the off camera issues, but I never heard what happened with Cavill. One minute they are planning to use him as Superman, the next he's out. And that man screams Superman.

I didn’t hear about the particulars of why they decided to go in a different direction.

I just remember late last year they had reportedly decided to move forward with Cavill. They even had him show up in the post credits scene of Black Adam so things looked promising. Then, by the time Black Adam hit streaming services like a month or two later it was announced that they were going to move on without Cavill and The Rock lol

I’ve heard that The Rock is difficult to work with and I imagine his price tag makes sense to find a lesser known.. but Cavill has been really good as Superman and I’ve not heard anything about him being a **** to work with.

Idk, I really don’t know wtf they’re going to do. Flash bombed, as did the latest Shazam. Affleck is reportedly out as Batman, Cavill out as Superman, The Rock out as Black Adam. Not to mention, as you say, Miller has been dealing with a lot of legal stuff that would make a divorce likely..

Finally watched this last night. Pretty disappointing. The multiverse aspect gave them a nice opportunity do some crazy things with Justice League members from other universes. But what did they end up with? Flash, a less mature while infinitely annoying younger Flash, Angry Emo Supergirl, and Grandpa Batman. Angry Emo Supergirl is supposed to be Kal-El's protector? But she goes 0-385 against Zod?

Meh. This film just made me loath Ezra Miller more.

Hah, I didn’t even consider that. She did keep getting wrecked, even with Flash’s help.

Gunn said it had to do with him wanting a younger version of Superman to be a part of his universe.

The Rock also pretty told DC to **** off and stiff-armed them into Cavill's cameo.

"Grandpa Batman", while still very different from the comics, is still somewhat similar to Thomas Wayne's role in the Flashpoint comic. And Keaton was ****ing awesome.

Basically Gunn wants a reboot of the universe and Cavill...loved him as supes but the general audience didn't care that much about him or this Snyder DCU. Very few hits if we're being honest. This new superman movie has to hit though and be a good story. The new castings I like too...but who knows what will happen. The Rock is usually a money maker and Black Adam bombed. It wasn't good really and I'm pretty sure he wanted to take over and make it his DC.

I trust Gunn with his past success but it's a combination now of superhero fatigue and people not going to theaters that much. I still think a great story will put asses in the seats.

Affleck wasn't coming back even if Gunn asked. He's been done with that character and how he had personal issues during that time with alcohol etc. He definitely did DC a favor with the cameo. I thought Ben got a bad rap as Batman and I liked him. Gunn did the right thing by rebooting imo.

Affleck was a very underrated Batman/Bruce, and he's grown on me in that role over time. Hell, the casting for all the players in the DCU were damned near pitch perfect (minus Momoa as Aquaman, I never got him in that role even if he did ok by it, and absolutely minus Miller as Flash), but the material and direction they worked with just flat out sucked.

IIRC, Gunn has said he's skipping the origin stories for all the characters as they're all well known at this point by the target audiences, and that's a good thing. Get right into the storytelling with the new actors in this new universe and see if anything sparks. If it's good, people will show up. DC Comics is outselling Marvel right now because their stories are just flat better than what Marvel's writers are putting out. It's always been weird to me how the MCU just crushes anything DC puts out in the theaters with the source material being reversed on that market. Gunn has a huge opportunity here, let's see what he does with it.

I'm not sure what this is based on, there aren't real sales numbers for Marvel or DC since they took their distribution in-house a couple years ago. Prior to that Marvel had been ahead of DC on market share pretty consistently. The best numbers we have now are from ComicsHub (short explanation: it's basically a sample of 100 stores) and they don't show anything that would indicate DC pulling ahead.

I stand corrected. A couple of the YT channels always make reference to how DC is outselling Marvel on the comic side (although I must say I'm enjoying Fall of X right now, at least the reviews of it).

I liked Henry Cavill as Superman, and as a Marvel fan I don't really care about DC stuff. Superman was made boring by his creator. His literal only weakness is a piece of a planet that exploded.

However, I can understand outrage going against source material, and while I, a casual fan of superhero stuff, enjoyed Man of Steel, my buddy was absolutely sickened by that film and Cavill as Superman was ruined for him.

When Kal-El killed Zod by snapping his neck to keep his eye beams from killing that family, he got up and walked out of the theater.

"NOPE! **** YOU, **** THAT, **** THIS STUPID ****ING BULLSHIT DUDE. NO ****ING WAY. NO WAY. NO ****ING WAY. "

He ranted all the way up the aisle on the way out.

The idea that Superman does not ever kill people was apparently an unbreakable tenet for him.

He could have flown straight up and out to save that family carrying Zod, he said. It was just lazy and stupid to kill him and destroys everything that Superman is.

So yeah, purists really didn't like what Snyder did with Man of Steel and then later in BvS Batman's killing spree through that film really didn't sit well with Batman fans.

No one cares about the small fraction of "purists". Man of Steel was a damn good movie and Superman had literally no choice but to kill Zod. Wtf else was he gonna do? They had nowhere to keep him contained.
