That's probably what I'll end up with. It's going in my den - anything bigger would just take up too much space or cause me to completely rework the room, and I like it the way it is.

I bought a Panasonic 50" Plasma TV last October from Circuit City.

Laz; my question is, since your set is also a plasma, did the delivery guy or a salesman or anyone mention to you not to ever lay your Plasma TV flat, that it must always remain upright?

I bought a LCD back in 2005, so this plasma was my second HD set and I had never heard anything before about not laying a plasma TV down. When I went to the loading dock at Circuit City to pick up my Panasonic plasma, I opened the hatch on my SUV and attempted to slide the boxed TV into my car. It was about 3" too tall, so just as I was about to lean the box over on it's side, the CC employee said, don't do that!! Plasma TV's must always remain upright or it can ruin the color. I said, well let's take it out of the box and see if it fits. He said, before doing that, there's a Home Depot across the street, go rent their truck for $20 and come back to get your set. I'm not going to release the TV to you unless you have a vehicle that can hold the set upright in the box while in transit. So, I got the truck from Home Depot and took the TV home.

The other amazing fact was that 50" flat plasma TV weighed 83 pounds, and with the base it weighed 98 pounds, much more than I expected. When I got home I slide the TV while still inside the box to the family room. Then after removing the box, I needed to lift the TV up about 2 feet to rest on my TV stand. I went ahead and put the stand on the set, since I didn't see a way of doing that later. Lifting that 98 pounds straight up a couple of feet and then resting it on a glass TV stand was the heaviest thing I ever lifted considering I only 157 pounds myself. My wife said she didn't know how I did it, especially since there is hardly nowhere to hold the TV because it's only about 4" thick. I just told her I wanted to watch that TV that night more than looking at it on the floor.

A lot of the plasma televisions I moved around had these little things taped on the box that would show if the unit had been transported wrong. I would assume if they went to all the trouble of making the device and attaching it to every box, you aren't supposed to transport them in any fashion but upright.
