Caught the 2:30 matinee today, been examining my thoughts on it ever since

Its such a beautifully shot movie, so many wide, lingering panoramics, and authentic looking scene after big scene

But the story felt incomplete, it was somehow lost in translation by skipping around the 3 different perspectives so frequently... ambitious and beautiful to look at, but flawed

Sorry to spam. Regarding 70mm showings. How do I know if it is IMAX 70mm or normal 70 mm and which should I want? The only theater in Kansas showing it in "70mm" is Leawood but it doesn't indicate if it is IMAX 70 or normal. Is one going to be any better than the other?

I would assume its marked 70MM IMAX if it was??

Im seeing it tomorrow in IMAX. But it was clearly just marked IMAX. Two other theaters were marked just 70MM.

All i know is that an IMAX screen is 'boxier" and "taller" and a 70MM screen has a wider picture.

I guess what I'm trying to find out is if the 70mm would be better than normal IMAX.

I tried looking it up and seems like a tough call that may be highly dependent on the theater. Looks like maybe 70mm might be better if you know the theater has a decently large screen an modern enough sound. IMAX at lest seems like they have good standards for sound and if you know yours doesn't have one that was crammed into a smaller theater would be a good way to see.

IMAX image is three times bigger than 70mm. 70mm is 5-perf; IMAX is 70mm but sideways and 15-perf. Bigger image and better resolution.

Very true. There is "LieMax" as well. AMC uses these screens alot. They are bigger screens, promoted as IMAX, but they are actually smaller than true IMAX size.

I don't know if Dunkirk will win Best Picture this year, but if it doesn't get the Oscar for Best Sound they should eliminate the category.

The sound of those Stukas was UNREAL.

I loved the sound of the Stukas, they struck fear into the opposing enemy troops and was designed intentionally by the Germans to do just that.

They had a small propeller on the landing gear. So the Stuka Siren was designed for that.
