I think the Stooge impressions are dead on with these three and they look right, but everything else in this trailer looks wrong. I'll give this movie a chance because I'm a huge fan, and was surprisingly impressed with the way the retro-meets-modern style of the first Brady Bunch movie worked, so I'm trying to stay positive.
Some of the Besser shorts are just weird. Moe has his hair slicked back (how he wore it in RL) and Larry didn't have his curls all poofy and Besser wouldn't do slap stick. There are still some funny moments, but something was definitely off. Curly Joe helped the get back to the original formula, but by then Moe was eliminating most of the hitting and violence and the "movies" seemed a pale imitation of the original skits. Honesly, if this new movie is better than the Curly Joe movies I'll probably be happy. If it's worse than those movies... then it should fade away as quick as possible. Some thought this movie was going to be a biopic, but that isn't really needed. I thought the TV movie of the was pretty great. I can't imagine them doing a better biopic than that. |

I feel bad, but I laughed when Curly was body slamming the guy repeatedly while the other two cheered him on. I mean, that... that was kinda funny.

I hate to admit it, and I mean I really hate to admit it, but I thought that was fairly funny.
Hell, I'd see it just for another glimpse of the nun coming out of the pool. I certainly don't remember them looking like that in grade school. |

My six year old son has been qouting the trailer that says "How many boogies are we talking about? " for days. He thinks that's hilarious, and is finally dying to see the . I'd hoped to make him a Stooge fan, but never could get him to pay attention because it was all Black and White picture. So if he likes it -that's worth it to me. I was his age (6) when I first got into the as well.

Saw this movie earlier today and this is my review after my initial viewing.
First off, let me get this out of the way. This movie surpassed my extremely low expectations for it......and that is where I sat with it for a little while after I saw it, trying to figure out if I liked it because of my terrible expectations, or because I truly found it to be a funny film. I have confidently decided on the latter. Yes, The Three 2012 is actually a rather (gasp) funny movie. I was pleasantly surprised by the humor in a rather unexpected yet at the same time expected way. Now what I mean by that is of course it’s essentially a fart-joke-humor type of a movie......but, it is at least in my opinion a pretty well made fart joke movie, which isn't easy to accomplish. The film doesn't take itself very seriously at all, and I believe is better for it. Really seemed like the Farrelly brothers have a lot of love for the and tried to pay them some homage of sorts. It really shows up that way on film. You will fall in love the 10 year old versions of Larry Moe and Curly. I could watch an entire movie based on just them at the orphanage to be honest. In my opinion 10 year old Curly is a spitting image of Vern from the movie "Stand By Me". Like an eerily similar pitch perfect Vern. So the film is broken down into 3 episodes in classic format, but it’s all just one continuing story. You will know where the story is going right away, but it doesn't really seem to prevent the movie from being entertaining in any particular way that I noticed. There were actually plenty of twists that make for some good laugh out loud jokes, which was a nice surprise. The adult versions of Larry, Moe and Curly were also very good! The only real complaint or criticism I might of had was that Moe's jaw looked perhaps a bit to big......but then again, that's nit-picking if you ask me. The mannerisms they had and displayed were absolutely flawless and the sound effects were on point too. Even the special effects are done in a way that is very reminiscent of the originals. Like for instance the way a bell falls on someone, or the way the boys jump on horses. It's all done in a way that looks intentionally fake, but still quite entertaining. The attentiveness to detail in that department made me smile. Perhaps the greatest respect I can give this movie is that it honestly made me feel like a kid again. I let go of all my reservations and preconceived notions I thought I would want to give it.....and I just sat back and enjoyed it. I honestly can't even remember the last time I was able to do that with this kind of a film. If you can manage doing that you'll probably find it fun and enjoyable as well. Its good fun for the whole family too and there’s probably not many movies out there right now you can say that about. Well, I guess that about covers it. Bottom line is, I was laughing much of the whole time while watching this film. If you're a fan, there's a lot to like……just give the movie a chance.
