Wait what? $1500ish for a dual core PC? What is this nonsense? If there is anything to be said about an Apple product, its not "decently priced."

The one I mentioned was 1300. But I should have said decently priced compared to their other lines. My limited experience with Apple machines has been pretty positive - they're generally quick, maintenance is pretty low, and they use memory leaps and bounds better than PCs. But my experience is limited to PowerMacs and iMacs in early 2000s. |

The Mac you linked is using DDR3, specifically LPDDR3 (Low Power) that was designed for mobile devices like tablets. Maybe I don't know as much about 1600MHz DDR3 but I'm fairly certain that PCs have been using this memory for a long time.

I just mean that my experience (which is 10-15 years old) is that Macs need less memory to do more - they use it more efficiently. |

Maybe. I have no idea. I personally wouldn't touch a Mac if I woke up to a free one on my porch. I'd leave it out there and wait for someone to "steal" it.

How memory is used is dependent on the processor and how it works. Your buying something you could build for 400 bucks for 1300, and you get shitty OS with little aftermarket support because of proprietary 'tech'. Take the idea of getting a mac, and flush it down the toilet, along with the marketing material that makes you think this could be a correct course of action. |

Just my 2 cents, but I really don't know much about current Macs and specifically Mac Mini. It sounds like you have an unreasonable bias against Apple. |

You use Lightroom, eh? Pretty cool! Find a way to get built-in color management. I don't know how to do that so you'll have to research it. PCs just don't have that. Or just buy a Mac and get it over with. It's built-in.

I use a monitor calibrator to ensure what I'm seeing is what I'll get in a print.

Like I said, how memory is used, what speed it runs at, have everything to do with the instruction setup on whatever CPU you are using. Always been that way. If you want to feed into propaganda and pay more for a mac be my guest, but take my professional opinion. Its not a bias against macs for being macs, its a bias against macs because they don't stack up. You pay more for inconvenience and less performance. |
