There is a reason most college teams use a spread offense. Very few teams can run a pro-style offense at the college ranks because it requires talent all over the place to work. Sure, USC runs it effectively, but how many others?

The kid gets a new OC in a new offense after a new coach the previous year, playing against top 20 defenses every other week in the SEC, he wasn't that great last year, and that's "spin".

Any one of those things might be seen as an excuse, but to think Weis would step in and perform miracles in one year in that situation is absurd. Not to say it's a horrible place to be, but FFS, might it be a challenge?

Like I said in the other thread, it's something worth researching beyond the numbers. I don't know what went on at Florida, but at least I don't act like I do.

Awful coach. Awful hire. Awful institution. We get it.

Happy cherry picking.

So he threw for fewer yards, lower percentage, and fewer TDs his second season as a starter?

And 3 wins against BCS teams. And the 103rd ranked offense in college football, edging out KU by a handful of spots.

Well if those stats are correct than no, he threw 9 TD's in 2010 and 10 TD's in 2011.

Brantley's 2nd year (the only one under Weis) looks much better than the year before.

I'm not sure I'm understanding the argument.

Ya, dude, everyone knows that Weis is terrible when it comes to coaching an offense. I think you should concentrate on his lack of success at ND as a head coach than a bad year on a shitty Florida team. That's what I'm personally worried about.

Things I'm not worried about:

- Weis' NFL connections and his recruiting
- Weis' ability to coach offense
- Weis' ability to coach a QB

Petro made a good point earlier regarding usually head coaches are much more successful their second time in that position (Belichik, Shula, etc.)

I think that's the reason he took the job. I think his ego is dictating this and he wants to prove that he can be a successful HC. I don't see any other reason for him to come coach here.

Fine with me.

Lock up Crist with a great show at AFH tomorrow and bring in Leavitt and away you go.

I am. You think ND's defense was bad under Weis, but you really don't know what a bad defense is and I hope you never find out.

Us Kansas fans know.
