These pictures mean nothing to me. I've never played the game. But, I do find this story very interesting. Some of the suggestions from other posters are very eye opening as well.

Buddy of mine had a long game of Civ 3 going and was a super power and his game ended when the AI voted him out.

I still have save files from a game of Civ 1. I allowed 1 city of an opposing Civ survive so I could continue to expand. I eventually filled up all the land with cities, irrigation, mines and rail, but soon after starvation reared it's ugly head.

I read this on reddit today and it made me want to start an epic on Civ V, but I don't think what he did is quite possible with Civ V

It is, sort of. Civ 1 and 2 did not handle aggressive AI very well. You could count on them to violate ceasefires 100% of the time. Pollution and global warming REALLY sucked in those games too, where they aren't as big of a factor in 5.

Oh, the governments weren't flexible at all, either. You made great $ as a democracy but were often crippled with unhappiness, especially while at war.
