I don't know if Smith needs confidence, but I do know that Cassel just flat out sucks at throwing the football. He's bad at throwing passes with a football. It's that simple.

Smith has made throws that Cassel could never dream of. That doesn't mean he'll do it again or consistently, but at least the ability is in there somewhere. I hold out zero hope for Smith, but I won't be shocked if he puts together 5 highly productive years.

Not being surprised ≠ expecting.

For the most part, I agree with this.

With Alex's shoulder surgery he lost quite a bit of the power he had with his arm. He went from being well above average in arm strength to being average, imo. I wonder if that's part of the reason he doesn't like to rifle things into tight spots...besides coaching.

That said, it did nothing to his accuracy or his ability to read the D. Montana, Brady and a number of other "greats" never had a big arm and were still able to do what you're talking about.

You do talk about confidence...one thing I have always said is that when his back is against the wall he starts making those throws. When he gets angry, he does too. So I have to believe it can get coached back into his playing style. He just needs to play with a chip on his shoulder.

Justin Smith has enough confidence to power a small island.

It doesn't matter if Justin Smith is bad at throwing the football, and everybody knows he is better than Cassel. He is still one of, if not the most destructive force on the field. He has put together five productive years in the past, and will continue to produce with or without your hope.

we're used to fans of teams with their own drafted Superbowl QBs coming over to lecture us about how we should just be happy with their backup cast off crap sticks...

we really love it, so thanks

that's why our franchise exists, to just be happy with a slightly less shitty QB

I didn't know the Chiefs took castoff QB's from other teams.

Have you guys ever considered drafting a QB? You should try that some time, I hear it is the bees knees.
