If you could be a professional athlete?

If you could be a professional athlete in any sport, what sport would you choose and why? If it is a team sport, is there a specific position you would want to play? Feel free to base it on any factors of your choosing that you deem important to the decision such as pay and salary structures, games played, popularity, etc.

It doesn't even have to be your favorite sport to watch or play. Just what sport you would want to be a profesional at when you factor in all of the characteristics of each sport. Lets assume you will at the very least be an above average person within the sport so you are never at risk of not being able to make a living at it. If you want to make yourself elite, so be it.

Basketball for sure.

You have the most exposure, minimal chance of major injury, it's fun to play, and contracts are 100% guaranteed.

Baseball. Money is guaranteed, you generally don't have to worry about being a vegetable years later, you get three months "off", and there is just something that was always cool about the joking and lightheartedness that goes on in a dugout that was fun.

I'd play baseball for one reason. It's not as hard on your body in the long term. But if you eliminate that factor, football is my passion. I'd be a MLB or SS.

Probably baseball. Better pay and a longer career, even if there is tons more glory in football. I'd probably play second or right field. I played best at those positions way way back in the day.

Football is the second choice, and I'd love to be a free safety. Get a thrity yard head start on trucking a dude, only to get a personal foul for hurting the guys' feelings because he got hit so hard. These days, anyway.

This question is hard for me. Golf would be fun since it would be the least demanding and your success in the sport is determined by you and you alone. However, something like football where you get to play in these huge primetime games in front of huge crowds that everyone watches would be really fun.

Baseball.

I'd wanna pitch or be a defensive whiz at Shortstop.

My post indicated MLB but when the poll appeared, Golf won. I'm guessing it would be a whole lot less fun playing professionally but I really enjoy that activity and to be able to earn a living doing it would be amazing.

Baseball. Golf would be awesome because you can play forever and go to beautiful courses, but you don't get to be part of a team like in baseball. And if you're a pro-baseball player you can golf plenty.

I ended up going with golf as well. Baseball is a close second because it just seems like they have so much fun. Plus the contracts are guaranteed.
