Cat chases Bear up Tree

I want a cat like this and I don't even like cats.

Jack, a 15-pound orange-and-white cat, cat sits under a treed black bear in a backyard in West Milford, N.J., Sunday, June 4, 2006. When the bear climbed down, the cat chased it up another nearby tree. Neighbor Suzanne Giovanetti thought Jack was simply looking up at the bear, but soon realized the much larger animal was afraid of the hissing cat. The cat's owners called it away and the bear ran off. (AP Photo/Suzanne Giovanetti)

The cat showed dominance. If you are ever attacked by a bear growl, and open up your coat and put your arms straight out from your body to make yourself look bigger. Never just RUN from a bear, it will assume you are weaker and chase you down and eat you. If you do try to escape, try to slowly while not looking weak. Most of the time when I bear charges at you it is trying to assert it's dominance. 3/4's of the time it will stop it's charge if you hold your ground.

Great advice, Mr. BWillie007. Thanks.

Also, when a bear charges you, you can offer it a pickanick basket. 87% of the time, the bear is just looking for a pickanick basket.

It'll probably rip your head off. If it's a black bear, once it attacks you and swipes at you, you are supposed to fight back with anything you can find. Stick, rocks, etc. You cannot outrun a bear, running from a bear will only make the bear want to eat you even more. If you encounter a Grizzly Bear and it actually doesn't stop it's charge and tries to attack you..your almost always screwed. They say to then lay in the fetal position motionless until it is done mauling you. Hopefully you will still be alive.

I heard that you should stand your ground and when the bear opens it's mouth you reach down it's throad all the way down until you get to it's tail, then grab hold and pull your hand out. You'll turn the bear inside out and he'll run the other way.

But if he's inside out and running away, doesn't that mean that he's actually running toward you?

They will run in circles mainly, Mr. Rain Man. Because their eyes are now pointing inward. And, as they do this, you make your escape.

The difficulty, obviously, is that you will likely cross their path numerous times as they circle. And this, of course, is the source of the old trapper saying, "We all have our bears to cross."
