But now I think the rotation should be:

Shields/Duffy/Ventura/Vargas (short leash) with Guthrie as LRP and Finnegan/Herrera/Davis/Holland
Ned might have other ideas.

My prediction for 2014 was 96 wins. Looks like we won't make it

In the regular season

If we tie with Oakland, we wont bother with the tiebreaker game. Thats why I'm saying don't buy the tiebreaker game ticket.

Atlanta has offered to promote their current interim GM, John Hart. Hart said he needed time to think about it, but you've gotta believe he'll take the job.

He didn't consider the cost factor. Play-time GMs rarely do

That probably was about right (and still is) in terms of what the Marlins would ask for. Close, at least (since the Royals' best minor league players had "down" years other than Christian Binford.)

Of course, given how well they've pitched since that point, the lens changes a little bit. But Stanton is the most rare commodity in baseball (RH power) and crushes all other potential "answers" or available offensive players in terms of impact. it's a definite sellers market on him.

Not saying KC should have done it (I've never held the thought KC would pay or should pay what it would take to get Stanton). Just that the price seems about like what Miami would ask for.

Of course, I was way off on what Tampa would get for Price, so maybe this return would be lower than expected, also.

You stole my thunder on Price because that was my next point. The Marlins offered Stanton to Houston for George Springer (1.4 war) and Correa. We'd guess Springer will improve but nobody knows on Correa. Certainly they aren't 2 young proven power pitchers.

Ventura and Duffy are excellent in the AL. They'd absolutely sodomize those weak ass NL lineups. And for ~$2m combined the next two years vs $30-35m for Stanton ......not a tough choice.

Was that Miami offer before Correa broke his leg? He was on his way to being a top 5 prospect before the leg injury, so that's a pretty significant piece.

Springer and Correa would be a less proven duo but have higher upside, arguably, than Ventura and Duffy.

All moot, anyway. But I don't think saying it would take Duffy and Ventura to get Stanton is that ridiculous a month ago, considering other reported offers/requests.
