Early Afternoon Bullshit: Who's planning to attend the playoff game?

Granted, nothing is set in stone yet as far as positioning is concerned, but who's thinking of making a trip to see the Wild Card game?

Per cdcox, we're around 96% to end up the 5th seed, and Indy is 88% to finish as the 4th seed. I've already booked a room in both Indy and Cincinnati, just to make sure I'm covered - and to get something booked before prices rise even further.

After doing some research, you can plan on spending a pretty penny in Indy - downtown hotels are obnoxiously expensive - $150 and up for Saturday night. Only way to stay cheap is to stay 6-7 miles away out by the airport and drive in on gameday. Cincinnati is cheaper, but downtown options are pretty limited.

So - who's going?

If that happens, I'll be watching from home. Too long/expensive of a trip.

You don't get out much do you???

I'd hate to see you drop dead in shock at $250-$400 a night for nice hotels in most major cities

I've been planning on it. Haven't booked the room yet, from the sound of it I probably should.

I don't think I will be able to swing it...but I almost always find a way at the last minute. I missed the 06 game in Indy, but I was at the 03 and 10 games. Still chasing that first win.

Mapquest shows Indy as 400 miles from here and it's 325 to KC, so the drive is similar and doesn't bother me anymore. I'm used to it.

The first hurdle would be if the game is on a Saturday or Sunday.

I've traveled quite a bit, and am used to $250-$400.

In cities like San Francisco, New York, Boston, Chicago - Kimpton and Fairmont typically.

Indianapolis? For a Hyatt? Or a Comfort Suites? Not so much.

I have an uncle in Indy... so I may go.

I've seen 2 home playoff wins and 3 home playoff losses... I'm about sick of seeing Indy in the ****ing playoffs, though.

Probably couldn't ride together, but if it goes down that way, maybe go in together on some tickets?

OTW,
Indy is about the same distance from St. Louis as Kansas City is?

Also those prices for Indianapolis seem similar to downtown St. Louis and Kansas City hotels.

I think it's a bit farther, IIRC.

241 miles from my place to Arrowhead, 259 to Lucas Oil.

Just a heads up - the Hyatt Regency and Comfort Suites City Center still have a few rooms available at $139 per night.

Everything else appears to be outside walking distance, a dump, or $200+ a night.

I'm a little stunned that the Hyatt has rooms at $139 a night....it's actually better positioned in regards to getting around downtown. It is in the heart of City Center while the Comfort Suites City Centre is actually right next to Lucas Oil Stadium but 3 or 4 blocks south of City Center.

If you are just there for the game then Comfort Suites City Centre works fine, but if you are wanting to scour downtown and not have to worry about cabs or parking then the Hyatt is best.

Yep.

I ended up canceling the room at CS for this exact reason.

I've had a change of heart on going to Cincy or Indy and holding out hope for another game in Denver, so I'm putting all of my eggs in that basket for now. Additionally, the travel costs are just too much from Texas. I can fly to Denver for little to nothing comparatively.
