FCC Could Ban The Word "Redskins" From Radio & TV - Are The "Chiefs" Next?

These political correctness people are driving me nuts.

If they get their way concerning the Redskins perhaps they will go after the "Chiefs" next.

"WASHINGTON, D.C. (GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY LAW SCHOOL) — The Federal Communications Commission [FCC] could effectively ban the use of the word "Redskins" by broadcasters, based upon a filing by several former FCC commissioners and other communication law experts, if the team's name isn't changed, according to a letter sent Friday to team owner Dan Snyder which concluded that using the word "Redskin" on the air is likely to be contrary to federal broadcast law because it constitutes an "indecency" if not an "obscenity."

The letter from former FCC chairman Reed Hundt and 11 other broadcast law experts says the R-word is the most derogatory name a Native American can be called, and is an "unequivocal racial slur" akin to the N-word. They liken the use of "Redskin" to an "obscenity," which is illegal on the public airwaves in any form, rather than simply an "indecency" which is restricted to certain times of the day."

I know some cp poster wish for the good old days whem racist terms and words were apart of our Americana, but those days are thankfully long gone...get over it.
its not like they are using the term as an insult

its a testament to them being fierce ass warriors

the logo looks bad ass

its not like ****ing sambo in black face being a jester

its bad ****ing ass

I actually heard a group of native americans arguing about this topic in a bar a couple months ago......out of 6 there were 3-4 who liked the logo and depiction of fierceness........

granted they were all in their 20's and young males....so probably not representative

Time to oust the-commander-in-CHIEF for using that blatantly offensive title!

Oh wait, he's black, that won't work...

Wait, he's only half black, so what do we do now?

Damn this is confusing...

It was a pretty good one.

That's when they disclosed that the Native American guy on the "please don't litter" commercials way back in the day was actually a Cajun from Louisiana and not an injun.

That episode is coming up again too soon on HBO Signature.
